Obama Campaign Responds to Eastwood's Empty Chair Jibe

The Twitter account of Barack Obama responded last night to Clint Eastwood's Republican convention speech mocking Obama with an empty chair.

A photo captioned "This seat's taken" was posted featuring a rear view of Obama presiding over a meeting while seated in a highback leather chair with a brass plaque on the back embossed, "THE PRESIDENT January 20, 2009"

I think that's the whole point of Eastwood's appearance last night. By portraying men who as civilians were not ashamed to "carry guns, risk their lives, and defend freedom", he brought this "persona" to life on "the big screen" for millions of Americans and they "loved him" because men like that are THEIR heroes!

And that kind of man can only drive the mealy-mouthed metrosexual men of the media nuts!

Agree. Seeing him pause and gather his train of thought so often wasn't pleasant. Not the way I think and remember him.
I would have been very good to see in some other context probably.

My son (a lefty) thought Eastwood was “classic Eastwood”. He loved it. He doesnt plan on voting this time around. Maybe, just maybe I can pursuad him.

Eastwood’s great. Didn’t see the speech, but saw the excerpts on Breitbart. If he ruffled a few feathers, that’s great. He accomplished his goal. He’s more than willing to put himself in harm’s way to support a greater cause.

Well I remember hearing in the past when a President was not all that popular, he would become the “butt” of jokes by the late night tv hosts, even if they were liberal themselves. There was more bending over backwards for Obama, but now I sense Clint dropped a “hint” that said, it is “okay” now to pull out a few jokes. :)
