Appearing as a guest on Monday's Piers Morgan Tonight, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg recommended that America's police officers should go on strike and refuse to protect people until gun control legislation which would allegedly make them safer is enacted. Bloomberg:
(Video can be found here.)
Well, I would take it one step further. I don't understand why the police officers across this country don't stand up collectively and say we're gonna go on strike, we're not gonna protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe.
Let’s face it, most of our police effort is diverted to revenue raising for governments and lawyers. The crackdown on drunk driving has just given us a lot of young men no longer able to provide for their children because they can’t drive.
Let drunk drivers go? Now thats smart. sarc/
I carry a gun, because a cop is too heavy to carry.
This man is mega-idiotic... police don’t protect people, they enforce the law. The action of enforcing the law puts people on notice, that if you break the law, you go to jail. The side effect of enforcing the law may provide a layer of protections for some people, but the intent of enforcing the law is to create a more harmonious society, an environment where free enterprise can take place with some confidence. If Bloomy tells the police to stop doing their job, he is breaking the law... most of us know how to protect ourselves anyway you dumb-A55 Bloomturd...
Cops mop up and do paperwork.
they are also an income producing arm of the government for speeders and parkers.
Cops rarely protect anyone in the first place, so I don’t think anyone would notice. In New York City the cops are the criminals. If anyone is on the take they are. No one protects the people from the cops.
Really? New Yorkers?
Might as well keep the loon in NYC. Don’t unleash this guy onto the rest of us.
Of course, they'd still protect the mayor. All those unarmed New Yorkers would be the ones suffering the results of this idiot's suggestion. The armed citizens would be able to protect themselves.
By the way, doesn't Bloomberg realize this would decrease the size of his liberal base and result in him getting tossed out of office?
To serve and protect went out the window a long time ago.
Does anyone care (outside of NYC) what this little egotistical asshat has to say?
The don’t protect people, they do the paperwork.
No work, no pay.
Hey, no problem, I’ll just be much more motivated to protect myself and my fellow man.
Perhaps to some the motto should be- "We Serve To Collect.*"
Okay, Bloombut, try walking through nighttime Central Park without any police protection or media groupies along... then tell me how gun control keeps the average citizen safer--
Perhaps the good Mayor should read the Supreme Court decision; Warren vs the District of Columbia. He should go on strike so the rest of us won’t have to listen to him.
Where do I sign up?
Let’s all remind that idiot Bloomberg that Norway has very strict gun control laws and yet just last year a crazed man massacred an awful lot of people - very many of whom were children. So how does idiot Bloomberg explain that?
Just goes to show you that you can have all the money in the world and still be an idiot.
Betcha Bloomberg is in favor of abortion...50 million human lives were killed since Row v Wade.
As was posted earlier, Police have NO duty to protect individuals. The “To Protect and Serve” decal that used to be on many PD prowl cars has likely gone the way of the honest to God beat cop, and police without body armor and a thigh rig.
Allthough a bit older (1999), check out “Dial 911 and Die” by Richard Stevens, Garn Turner, and edited by Aaron Zelman.
Stay alert
Hey, Nooooo Yawkahs,
How does it feel to have a completely demented ego-obsessed maniac as your Mayor?
