The Senate DOES NOT need to ratify a UN treaty for us to be bound by it!!!

It has just been brought to my attention that because of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties which the US is apparently a signatory to, the UN will consider us bound to any treaty, including the ATT, that Obummer signs. The Senate DOES NOT have to ratify it. I couldn't believe it when I heard it so I researched it and found the treaty and sure enough that is exactly what it says. Please read Article 12 of this treaty even if you don't read the rest of it. Also watch the video from Dick Morris, he also talks about the UN trying to get the power to TAX US!!! We are doomed if this happens.

Well until 2009, I didn’t know about the signature provisions of the VCLT, despite having an interest in treaty law as regards environmental regulations dating back to the mid 1990s. I was well aware back then of the problems with the punctuation of the Supremacy Clause. That and the matter of how a treaty is ratified both need Constitutional amendments. I’d like to see the same standard for ratification of a treaty as for amending the Constitution itself.

I read the post and what you say on the thread. I think you’re missing one thing: The UN has no power unless we give it to them. The entire reason the UN exists is that American plutocrats use it as a way to get around the limits on enumerated powers in the Constitution so as to play their crooked games via the Federal courts. We “ask permission” in order to transfer power to them for use at a later date.

Getting called a loon/tin foil hatter and convincing people to think outside of their normal patterns tends to be tiring.
Sometimes you just have to sit back a while and let history unfold as is happening these days.

I don't think I'm missing it at all. It may simply not be stated on that thread or on this one.
Shall I go find an old reply of mine to disabuse you of that assumption as well or will you "take my word for it"? LOL

IMO it is better to influence history than to make it.

LOL I don't think that's necessary, but it was an accurate conclusion based upon what you said at the time, not an "assumption." I try not to do the latter unless for the purpose of testing a hypothetical construction.

It pretends to be, but no. They "deemed" it passed??? Neat trick; now, where have I heard that before...
I suppose this is what happens when rats ran wild while kitty slept. The feral government consolidated its power by usurping it from the states, AND We The People of course. Carry_Okie I'm not following your reference to the supremacy clause which in my understanding essentially states CONSTITUTIONAL federal law is supreme over state law, so...

Well I committed to making it over thirteen years ago. Still working on that project too.
Strangely, in some respects history found me and I'm still untangling it.

Carry_Okie I'm not following your reference to the supremacy clause which in my understanding essentially states CONSTITUTIONAL federal law is supreme over state law, so... I discuss it at length here. Of the two interpretations of the Supremacy Clause, I think you can guess from the history which one was actually intended, despite the more obvious but sadly wishful conclusion. I think the fix was in from the get-go.

Nah, not for me. I'm not a glory hound. It has nothing to do with glory and everything to do with the responsibilities attendant to discovery. When G_d hands one a talent, one is commanded to make it grow, or pay dearly. Honestly, I doubt you'd want to trade places.

Ugh! My eyelids are getting heavy and I wouldn’t be able to give your essay the attention it probably deserves tonight so I’ll check back in the morning with a fresh cup o’ joe and have a crack at it. Thanks.

The United States considers many of the provisions of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties to constitute customary international law on the law of treaties.
(but we ain't signing it!)
Weasel words the world over...rejoice!

...the responsibilities attendant to discovery.Hmmmm...we're both here sharing our thoughts, opinions and knowledge at the largest conservative website which is ranked
very highly worldwide.
I feel very comfortable in concluding that I've effectively shared what I've discovered and have done so for well over 12 years (since around late 1992 actually, but that's before FR). I haven't made a penny off of my efforts, I've never asked for credit for any accomplishments I made, or might have helped make, and I'm happy with that. I consider all that I've done to be charitable works.
When G_d hands one a talent, one is commanded to make it grow, or pay dearly.
Whose talent are we speaking of here, yours or mine? What exactly do you consider my talent to be?
Or are you obliquely telling me to "get off my duff and do something with my life"?
Honestly, I doubt you'd want to trade places.
I'm content with my life. Why would I want to change places?

OK, one more before hitting the sack.
Weasel words the world over...
Just so AND this discussion sortof answers a question I've asked several times when LOST comes up on the forum and that is; Under what authority does the feral government, and the states for that matter, collect fees, royalties and other gratuities from oil companies etc operating outside our 12 mile territorial waters. Apparently LOST is "deemed" passed.
G'night.

Not yet. It isn't even out of committee.
The committee vote is scheduled in two days so it isn't a done deal yet.

They going to send in 100,000 blue helmets to cover our streets? No need, we are prepping 30,000 drones for domestic use, and wouldnt you jus know they are also showing pictures of their new missile that can be mounted on the smaller drones.
I have about cried my last tear, for the fools we have become.

Whose talent are we speaking of here, yours or mine? What exactly do you consider my talent to be? A "talent" (and I'm specifically referring to the parable by that name) was an amount of money, a thing of value, in this case a series of discoveries.
As to making money, the work has cost me well over $1.5 million.
Or are you obliquely telling me to "get off my duff and do something with my life"?
No.
I'm content with my life. Why would I want to change places?
Discoveries are wonderful things; the researcher values them highly. I've been blessed, but they do come at a terrible price and entail very serious responsibilities.
