Prayer to St. Thomas More for Lawyers and Judges
Dear Scholar and Martyr, it was not the King of England but you who were the true Defender of the Faith. Like Christ unjustly condemned, neither promises nor threats could make you accept a civil ruler as head of the Christian Church. Perfect in your honesty and love of truth, grant that lawyers and judges may imitate you and achieve true justice for all people. Amen.

It is a national hypocrisy when citizens have to prove they have health insurance but proof of citizenship is not needed! Exactly, come to the United States illegally (from anywhere) and you can vote to overturn the government. It's Insanity.

“Single payer commie care will never pass Congress. They will have to go back to the drawing board and alter the bill in some way to make it financially viable both for private insurers and for those who purchase health care plans.”
It would pass if every private insurance company quit offering health ins.
All the RATS have to do is refuse to overturn the rest of it and that would happen. If the RATS control anything you can bet your a$$ that is what they will do.

It is a national hypocrisy when citizens have to prove they have health insurance but proof of citizenship is not needed! How about if you say that one again? That's a very deep statement about the ironical thought processes and arguments used by the libs.

Stephens is no longer on the court, (0/100). I assuming you mean Kennedy.

There is speculation the court may strike down the mandate in the law, but not the entire law.

A large majority of people do not support Obamacare. This is a consideration that will not be lost on the USSC, and it will be a factor in striking down the mandate IMO.

but they can even automatically deduct fees/fines directly from your accountAutomatic is partially true. The IRS follows a set procedure that includes many fail safes before a levy on an account. It can take several months and several attempts to contact before a levy is done. When they exhaust the "good cop" procedures they implement the bad cop-normally a levy.
Even after the levy there are circumstances that can be used to get them to return the money. One of them is if the amount in all accounts is only enough to cover monthly expenses.

Kennedy is the lynchpin here. And I just don't see him being the one to keep the libs from their
coup de grace moment. He will vote For. I remember other cases the Court "would certainly" overturn. Campaign finance and Kelo come to mind. I'm in no way confident this is going to be a happy day.
Please God, let me be wrong.

3) The mandate states that everyone must buy insurance.
4) Severability is a clause that almost every other bill passed by Congress contains. It merely means that if one element of the bill is deemed to be unconstitutional or invalid, the other sections shall not be so deemed but can remain in effect.
By Congress deleting the severability clause, the normal action would mean if the USSC strikes down the mandate, then the rest of the law would also be invalid.

Mandate - can the law make you buy a health plan
Severability - can the mandate be separated from the bill and still keep the rest of the bill intact
