Reading the extraordinary revelation about Barack Obama’s youthful literary career on Breitbart.com [1] — that his agents published a promotional book in 1991 with a bio of Obama saying he was born in Kenya — set my old mystery writer mind ablaze.
How could that be? Why would they think such a thing?
There are only two forks in this road — either he was born in Kenya or he wasn’t.
I have never been a conspiracy theorist and will assume the latter, although I have to confess that for the first time, given this revelation, I have the tiniest soupçon of doubt.
Nevertheless, the more interesting, and actually frightening and depressing, conclusion is the former. So what if he was born in Kenya? At least we know why he lied about it. He wanted to be president.
But why did Obama’s agents think he was born in Kenya? That’s a more interesting question. (Obama, of course, is a liar either way.)
I will leave aside for the moment the question of whether he vetted the agent’s material himself. As the author of eleven published books and seven produced feature films, I have had plenty of dealings with agents and publicity people and always looked over the bios they had written about me. Every author I ever talked to about it always did too. We’re those kind of egotists. But I have no way of proving that Obama did — although I would faint if he hadn’t.
But whatever he did, the question remains. Why did they put “Born in Kenya” in his bio and leave it there until 2007? The latter part of that question can of course be ascribed to normal human sloth, but the first part — there’s the rub.
Here are the explanations I can think of:
There is one other possibility. The agents simply made up the place of Obama’s birth, but I have never in all my life heard of a literary agent doing such a thing. It’s possible I suppose, but hardly likely. And why?
Anyway, per Occam’s Razor, I am going with the obvious — the agent’s source for Obama’s birthplace was… Barack Obama.
But again why? Why would he lie about where he was born?
Well, he might have wanted to glamorize his past, but if that’s so, it’s pathetic. I suspected there was a more substantive reason, one that would cause him to leave his African birth place in place in the bio. But to take the risk of being found out, it would have to be strong.
My wife Sheryl and I, like Nick and Nora Charles, discussed it over gimlets this evening. We both agreed the mystery lay somewhere in Obama’s college and university years at Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard. We knew, as you do, there must be an explanation for why the court eunuchs of the mainstream media have never bothered even to investigate the scholastic career of the most powerful person in the world.
Because Obama got bad grades? Yawn — so did Bush, Kerry, Biden, Ted Kennedy, and dozens of others who later found themselves making life or death decisions over our lives.
No, it had to be something more significant, more potentially dangerous. What if, we thought, as others have suggested, the reason Obama’s school records have not surfaced is that he enrolled, at one of those institutions at least, as a foreign student — a Kenyan?
But why would he choose to do that? Well, maybe for a grant, a subvention, a scholarship that was available uniquely to students from Africa or similar locales.
Yes, I know that’s not “fair,” in the lexicon of the Lord of Fairness, to have adopted a phony identity and deprived others of an opportunity they may have more richly deserved. But it would certainly fit with Obama’s early need to be recognized as a Kenyan by his agent and, presumably, his publisher. As we all know, it’s not the crime, but the cover-up. (In this case, actually, it’s both.)
As time went on, of course, college drifted away and politics reared its head. The Kenyan identity became less necessary, even a liability, so it was dropped.
I don’t know about you — but this makes sense to me. It also fits with the tomb-like silence around his college years.
But I could be wrong. After all, I am only a mystery writer and, worse yet, a screenwriter. The professional investigative journalists at The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times will no doubt dig deep and give us the true explanation.
But if they don’t, and I know you’re skeptical, we have to keep pushing, every one of us. We must learn the truth of this. We owe it to Andrew B. — and to our country.

No, too simple, and it conveniently gives him an out, since the great Clinton got away with worse lies.
Sara further on down mentions that he’s faked his BC and selective service, far worse crimes than covering for his alleged absent father/school application antics.
Perhaps the adoption of a Kenyan identity was out of necessity. In president Stoner’s book, he recounted how his last two years of high school were a drug and alcohol induced blur. Under such circumstances it’s unlikely he had the requisite grades/SAT scores to enter college as a graduating American. Maybe as a foreign student from an underdeveloped country, he received favorable consideration without regard to grades or preparedness.

Actually, I think there is a lot of doubt he is a US citizen. IF he was born in Kenya then odds are good he is not a US citizen at all. Baby Momma was not old enough to confer citizenship on offspring Barry and Baby Daddy was not a US citizen. There are also allegations he went to Occidental as an Indonesian foreign exchange student on an Indonesian passport. Indonesia does not allow dual citizenship and you have to be a citizen to get a passport. Since all documentation he has submitted so far to support a Hawaiian birth has been fake, I think it’s within the realm of possibility he is not even a US citizen. I doubt if his Commie beotch mother expected him to be President one day but it seems likely she assumed he would be able to do more harm to the United States as a citizen than a foreigner. Without more access to his real records I’m not willing to say, “there is no doubt Obama is a US citizen”.

oops, I said that wrong, you are correct, I had meant to say “natural born citizen”. I do believe he is a natural born citizen. It’s the other problems (i.e. scholarship funds and birth parents) that I think are the reasons they are hiding all the facts.
Put in context of Hawaii lack of records. Common sense, he wasn't born here.
They don't want to believe it and refuse to address NBC regardless.

Sigh (and I wouldn’t sigh at all if I knew you were a left wing freak, and I’m tired of researching all the left wing freaks here). Being simply a US citizen is not being eligible for the presidency.
Big Media is doing its job well.

That’s the next step, when Big Media and Hussein’s handlers figure he’ll get a pass from you and the rest for “just lying to get government aid” because, after all, we “are pretty sure he is a US citizen”.
Why do we choose to believe ANYTHING Hussein and his media tell us??????
But there is so much more. What about the Selective Service registration and his Social Security number?
Let’s look at the facts:
1. There are numerous testimonies to the fact that Obama was born in Kenya including one at least from his wife.
2. Now we find a reference to a Kenya birth from Obama himself.
3. Obama has fought in court successfully to avoid presenting any legal authority a certified version of his Hawaiian Long Form Birth Certificate.
Now just apply Occam’s Razor to that set of facts and what do you get?
Answer: Born in Kenya.
This issue seems to bring out the serious leftists at FR.
Or it could be both...he could have been born in Kenya AND he used that info to get scholarships.
I stayed out of the birther thing because I figured people smarter than me would figure it out.
I’m leaning towards this scenario now because Obama is using the social security number of a dead connecticut man.
If he were born in Hawaii....then what is UP with the social security number?
Whatever the truth is will eventually come out regardless of what I think. What will remain is that he is an utterly contemptible fraud and liar. That won’t change.

My hunch is that he was first truthful about his birth place in Kenya and he then he lied about Hawaii. How else would you explain the massive amount of money he paid lawyers in recent years to prevent release of the long form birth certificate and then when forced, disclosure the poorly forged Hawaii birth certificate?

The answer is pretty simple.
Obama was born in Kenya when that served him.
Obama was not born in Kenya when that served him.
Even the most trivially left leaning liberal can understand this.
Don’t you know it’s a test of true intellect to be able to accept that two contradictory facts are both true?
So who wrote the bio blurb? Are they still alive? It’d sure be interesting to hear from them on this.
Media newsroom floors must look like the aftermath of a ticker tape parade today as they scramble for something else to report. Avoiding this story and the suicide of Robert Kennedy Jr’s wife over his affair must be giving them fits.
