Turnout for Tuesday’s Illinois primary in Chicago was a meager 24 percent, officials said.

It was the lowest turnout for a presidential primary in the past 70 years.

My bad.

I SHOULD have said Romney is a LIBERAL Republican, and so is “reach-across-the-aisle, but they don’t reach back” John McCain.

Bush 43, was slightly right of moderate, and did a lot for the pro-life movement.

"Going to be a lot of poor losers after tonight."

You're right Hinckley.

To all, please forgive my antagonistic comments. I know the pain of seeing a candidate lose that you really relate to...from 1964 onward. It really, really sucks.

It hurts and it's bewildering.

But I have to disagree, most are not poor losers. Most Freepers are genuine winners.

There's only two folks I have ever held a grudge against on FR...even in the heated a vicious battles over NEARLY 14years here.

Santorum supporters: You have my condolences.

I'll be back tomorrow to fight. Tonight you'll get my respect and comfort.

For, I can remember falling to the floor in 1976, weeping.

No, it’s not over yet.

I just don’t like to lose, especially to a piece of garbage like Mitt Trotsky.

He stands for nothing.

Like I said above. there will be a lot of poor losers here tonight. Pay them no mind. They will blow themselves out after awhile.

"That 'anybody but Santorum' would certainly include Romney now wouldn't it. "

Yes, it does.

There are two ways to win idiots’ votes.

Idiots can’t think, won’t think and .... ohhhh shiney!

The biggest problem with Newt - who I support wholeheartedly - is he doesn’t speak in soundbites. He EXPLAINS. Most people do not want to learn or listen. His video on energy is totally amazing - but it is 30 minutes, not 30 seconds.
The country that put a man on the moon. That basically invented and forced through the technological revolution. And it seems that most of the voters can’t focus for more than ten seconds.

Newt never stood a chance in Illinois, I don’t think any Newt supporter thought that. I really wish Sen. Santorum had done much better. This was not the news I was hoping to wake up to today (yeah, I work odd hours).

Let it be known that Cato in PA will never, under any circumstances, vote for Mitt Romney.

Fine, we'll put you down as "undecided."

“Your biggest enemies are totalitarian rat bastard psychopaths like Cass Sunstein, John Holdren, and Obama and Co, who will literally kill you if they get a chance. I don’t mean politically. I mean they intend to kill you, and your family. They have said as much off the record.

Whining about Romney’s faux conservatism is a high class problem compared to physical survival.”

You are correct.

I will not vote for Romney if he is the nominee.

I will only vote for Romney IF he is the nominee.

The prime directive is to defeat Barack Obama and ALL Democrats in November.

And I do mean ALL Democrats. The Democrats are truly anti-American and are the enemies fo freedom; completely co-opted by Marxists and hard core leftists, as it is actively engaged on multiple fronts to destroy this nation.

Now, I am listening to my man Newt Gingrich on Fox explaining why we have to defeat Obama. I listen to this man and know he has such wisdom and knowledge, and can not understand how, once again, I find myself in the minority of Americans, and the minority of Republicans who understand how to recognize true leadership.

But if Romney is the nominee I WILL vote for him, because to allow Barack Obama and his detestable, corrupt Administration to remain in power over me and my family one more day after January 20, 2013 at noon is UNTHINKABLE>

You and I and other longtime Freepers know what is at stake in this election. It is like 1860 and 1980--the effects will have ramifications for decades to come, and will determine even if there is an America in the future.

But I will tell you this--it will be the last time I vote Republican in a Presidential race. Because, win or lose, we need to ffinally throw off the elephant and create a Conservative political party after this election. The RINOs will have their last stand. If they saddle us with Willard and they win, at least we will be done with Obama. If they saddle us with Willard and we lose, the GOP has breathed their last and will go the way of the Whigs.

And our country will be in a fight for its very existence, and I do not say that lightly. I am a student of history and I see what is coming, and it is not pretty.

We will do our duty to America and to the GOP once last time in either case. But to not vote--that is not thinkable or rational, given the hour of peril we face.

Actually, it started with Perry. Myself and his other supporters along with the Governor were called the worst, most obnoxious names by a gang of trolls who were given no limits on this forum. A number of them were Cain supporters who switched to Gingrich or just disappeared once Perry dropped out.

And Perry was a full-fledged conservative, head and shoulders above the current ones.

Cato will now cease talking in the third person.

The majority of conservatives who have not warmed up to Santorum is due to lack of trust in his judgement after having endorsed Mitt Romney in the last Presidential primary.

To those Newt supporters they see a a compromiser rather than a fighter of principles when they see Santorum you know "well, we didn't get what we really wanted but at least we got SOMETHING done".

So, if anybody is in hiding as a Romney supporter but masking as a supporter of somebody else that Romney supporter would most likely be claiming to support Santorum and NOT Newt Gingrich.

Santorum never had a chance. He should have stepped down long ago and let Newt tackle Mitt Romney. But he didn't. We can look for Santorum to be endorsing Mitt Romney AGAIN sometime soon, I suppose. many believe that was his plan all along.

Your theory just does not hold water.

Yes, you’re right about Illinois— I lived there for half of my life, and thinking conservatives are few and far between. The university crowd might respect Newt’s methods and ideas, but of course they are terrified to vote against Obama.

There is a strategy being developed right now should the GOP lose the House and Senate, and the Presidency this year. It is called the Filibusterer. We will tie up all legislation with it. Then we will have a second Tea Party revolution in 2014 and nominate our President in 2016.

Obama wants to destroy this country, kill it, plow it under and salt the earth. At worst, Romney wants to what--use it to get richer? I don't see Romney bent on creating a socialist totalitarian state. I'll take my chances with Romney thanks.

If Romney wins the nomination every prominent Republican will announce their support of him...INCLUDING Palin...on the floor of the convention in Tampa.

Don’t look at me! I voted for Santorum in 2012; Fred Thompson in 2008; and Alan Keyes against Barack Obama.

Sigh. Not enough people agree with me.

For the most part, I held my tongue against Bachmann, Perry, even Gingrich, and was a Cain supporter and went to Santorum. Might be a few times I unloaded on Newt Gingrich but never any carpet bombing, or incessant, PSYCHOTIC showing up on Newt thread after Newt thread being an agent provocateur to distrupt over there. I respect them and leave them alone. Newt is not the worst guy in the world and stands as my second choice in this race to stop Romney. My number one problem in this 2012 GOP season, open source, no hidden agenda or allegiences here or playing games or astro-turfing, has ALWAYS BEEN Mitt Romney, along with Obama of course. I have made every effort to target fire where it should be targeted, as a conservative. Hope I have been true to those precepts and values.
