FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Remember the Good Old Days? Sock Hops? Drive-in Movies? Buddy Holly? Or other things that made it Fabulous? You know, before cellphones? Come on in and share your memories. Or take a trip back in time.
Tonight well check out 1952. Despite the war in Korea Americans considered themselves to be prospering with average worker earning $3,400 per year, a college teacher could expect to earn $5,100 per year.
Three out of 5 families owned a car, 2 out of 3 families now had a telephone, 1 in 3 homes had a television. Average Cost of new house $9.050.00 Average wages per year $3,850.00 Average Cost of a new car $1,700.00 Fast Food restaurants were growing in popularity, Many more cars in America were now fitted with automatic gearboxes and gas cost 25 cents per gallon. the scourge of Polio hit many thousands of families ( 50,000 estimated )
Number One Hit March 9 May 10 1952 ~ Kay Starr - Wheel of Fortune ~ (click graphic) Arrowhead was born
Remember, the Canteen is a family friendly place. We welcome the military, our allies, and their families. Continued prayers for the success and completion of your mission. Prayers for your safe return home.

Good evening, Kathy!
*HUGS*
Don't encourage me! Once I get started on those days, there's no stopping me! LOL!
Still swamped at work - it looks like another full-day Saturday. Still, it's good to feel needed. And better to get paid time and a half. :)

Good early evening, AZ....
Hope your commute was sunny and without incident.
I've been coming home a different route. The berms are getting higher and higher. We are at 129 inches of snow. It is going to take all summer for all of the snow in the yard to melt.

It was a very different world. I was in kindergarten and (heaven forbid) walked to school! Just under a mile. No matter what the weather...lol. No TV. And not a care in the world! :)

Thank you so much! She seems to think she’ll be up and at ‘em pretty quickly. I hope she’s right. My shoulder surgery put me out of commission for about 2 weeks. LOL!

memories of a different time, different morals, different society.Especially the morals! Seems so many of the younger generations have next to none.

I had a torn rotator cuff and the doc told me I'd be off work for possibly 6 months if I had surgery and there was no guarantee it wouldn't tear again. Can you guess my answer to him? lol

That’s what mine was, and I was back at work...in the restraint...in about a month...maybe less. I had therapy that restored my full range of motion that was pure torture! LOL! But it did work!

You have hit the nail on the head....too many of today’s younger generation seem to have little to no morals. So many have not had to work for ANYthing. They don’t understand the “price” of every day living.
