What's with Ann Coulter?
1/26/12 | self

What's with these talking heads, Ann Coulter especially, and their vitriol against Newt? I've always liked Ann, she is SO conservative; now she's pitching for Romney and slamming -- really slamming -- Newt. I don't get it.

COULTER: What changed my mind about is whether — and by the way I changed my mind about three months after that on some Fox News show because the economy was so bad. And I said, look, I mean, I’m generally a pessimist who we’re running against — actually, maybe I’m not. But we have this very popular —

COULTER: We have this popular Democratic president. He does have an attractive family. He has the entire mainstream media behind him. He’s an incumbent. That is why I thought the candidate we ran would lose. I no longer think — I now think Obama has a glass jaw, I said that’s just a few months after that statement by the way, but it’s not really I think that big of a change. In fact, we don’t know if my prediction is wrong yet. What I am saying now is of the available candidates, Romney is by far the most conservative — tied with Michele Bachmann — and he has a proven ability to win in a state like Massachusetts.

There are many people who do not follow this crap. I just recruited 3 votes for Newt for next Tuesday’s primary in Florida.

All three of them did not want the establishment picking our candidate. I showed theme how Romney was the establishment. It’s simple, do you want another McCain against Obama or do want someone with the balls to call Obama out and frame the debate.

Romney can never stand up against the Obama machine. I aksed each of them if they believed media is in the bag for Obama, of course they did. I then asked them, who is the media potraying more in a positive light, who does it seem like they prefer, Romney or Gingrich? All three said Romney. I said there you go, that tells you they are afraid of Gingrich. Gingrich is the man.

They agreed. They will be putting it the same way to their friends and relatives.

We need to recruit the votes. We need to talk to relatives and friends. We need to take back this country and Romney will be the person to do it.

you know I really appreciate your updates, I do as it is good knowing that there are good folk out there who will not fall for the bias in the MSM including FOX

Sadly we still have on our side some who would rather trust FOX and their lies.

“Born in south central Pennsylvania to a teenage mother, Gingrich was adopted in infancy by his stepfather, a career soldier.”

That is sooo not cocktail party conversation!

Ann and Glenn Beck were mugging Newt yesterday on his radio show.
It doesn’t bother me that the different self-proclaimed political pundits bring out the various pluses and minuses of candidates. When dealing with politicians, we all have to hold our noses and vote for the best survivor of the process so the more information, the better. But shrill rants and degrading comparisons detract from any rational arguments.
IMO, Rush remains the most credible commentator with Hannity a distant second. Rush seems to have the intellectual capacity to see situations from multiple different angles whereas Hannity is somewhat simplistic and overly repetitive. Listening to Beck is like experiencing someone elses bad dreams borderline nightmares. Ann is a bit too into herself and her personal prejudices.

Ann Coulter: What you end up with when one’s breakfast consists of a fifth of whiskey and a half pack of Marlboros for breakfast everyday.

How many cats does (s)he have? (S)He also might need to replenish it's battery supplies...perhaps it's “personal massager” is out of action?

Obviously Coulter dislikes Newt Gingrich personally and is probably acquainted with him. As for Romney, she’s bought into the false belief that he’s the only Republican running who can defeat Obama.

He’s a history whiz. read some of his novels, he has a very good grasp of how events, past and present can shape the future.

But I think you were trying to prove that he worked outside the government but that was a public university run by the state of Georgia, I believe. Anyway, my point is still that he’s never really earned a living outside the government, which is fine, but that does not speak to the distrust people have expressed of insiders, which can be said of Newt.

I wish we could combine the private sector part of Mitt and the feistiness of Newt and the principles of Santorum to build a better candidate.

I think she’s going with the “most conservative candidate who can win” strategy.

We can disagree with her, but I don’t know why adults cannot discuss and disagree without resorting to personal attacks and speculations about someone’s sexuality. —Not talking about you, just the tone of this thread. I think a lot of FReepers need to stop idolizing people who they don’t know simply because they agree with some things they hear them say. It makes it difficult to keep things in perspective when they find out they don’t agree with them 100%. —And yes, I expect to get flamed for saying that but I just had to.

“So now we hate Ann. Check. Let me know when we switch back to loving her.”

Her columns are still running on the FR home page under alliances . . . maybe a love/hate relationship? lol.

Lets face it folks, there are no “sweet hearts” in this primary season and,
AND, they are all politicians vying for the reins of world powers... Newt is not a sweetie, he is a bit erratic and a bit bombastic, but that doesn’t disqualify him. Mitt is no sweetie. He is a Mormon, and apparently will say whatever is politically expedient, which makes me think he is carrying out Mormon objectives, so where he will land on any particular conservative issue cannot be fully known... and that, as disquieting as it is does not disqualify him. Santorum? well, I think he’s gone before FL’s vote begins. You would rather have a second Obama term?

As I posted earlier, I pulled the lever for Newt in SC, but it wasn’t done enthusiastically.

I am worried that our side is imploding. We aren’t getting behind any one candidate. Most of us true conservatives have no interest in backing Romney. The establishment - many people who I respect - have no interest in backing Newt.

This is a bad news/bad news situation. We’re in deep trouble because there is no one left to rally around.

You will get no flames from me. I completely agree. I don't remember people becoming enamored with candidates like they are involved in a love affair. Did that start with Palin?
