Anne Coulter pal Matt Drudge has declared all out war on the Gingrich campaign. As of 7am Eastern time he has 9 negative mentions about Newt (none on Romney):
NEWT FLASHBACK 1983: REAGAN RESPONSIBLE FOR NATIONAL 'DECAY'...
NEWT 1986: 'The Reagan administration has failed, is failing... President Reagan is clearly failing'...
NEWT 1988: 'If Bush runs as continuation of Reaganism he will lose'... VIDEO...
INSIDER: GINGRICH REPEATEDLY INSULTED REAGAN
R. EMMETT TYRRELL: William Jefferson Gingrich...
COULTER: RE-ELECT OBAMA: VOTE NEWT!...
CNN: Gingrich admits his ABC claim was false during debate...
Gingrich tells UNIVISION: No perjury during my divorce depositions...
Marianne Gingrich lawyer: 'He was never deposed'...
Newt’s got some history of attacking conservatives, including Ronald Reagan. Unless we decide that conservatism is whatever Newt happens to think or say at some moment, say, when he’s paling around with Nancy Pelosi, we’ll have to realize he’s a leaky vessel to be the sole source of conservative orthodoxy. Newt’s fidelity to conservatism is similar to Romney’s. It’s just that some people are choosing to overlook it when it comes to Newt. I see no reason for us to close our eyes and pretend he’s been always faithful.
FOX and Friends highlighted all this today.
Matt is a fag and Ann has turned into a party hack Faghag...
RINOs gotta get the conservative....
Rinos GOTTA GET the conservative.....
Rinos gotta get the CONSERVATIVE.............
GET HIM! STOMP HIM! KILL HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the Drudge Report, I sent this tip in his tip box: Matt is in the tank for Mitt.
I wonder what Newt did to Drudge. It looks personal.
Or maybe it’s because Newt is a poor candidate and his flaws are becoming more apparent?
There is no such thing as unbiased news coverage.
While I’d pick Newt any day of the week and twice on Sunday over mitt, Newt is a bottom tier choice.
Matt is working overtime with his girlfriend Ann.
It is getting kind of obvious: he’s Ann Coulter’s little poodle. She’s against Newt so he’s against Newt. No matter what he does, she still won’t sleep with him, I’m guessing ...Creepy!
Context is everything. It seems odd today, but Reagan was often criticized by conservatives for not being conservative enough. Reagan had many moderates/liberals in his administration.
I agree with you. A better position to take regarding Newt would be to not try to pretend and make excuses for some of his non conservative positions, but to say that you know the flaws in Newt but feel there is a better chance for Newt to come around than there would be with Romney.
Like maybe 50/50? If you are lucky.
Newt at least HAS an established politically conservative record of sorts while Mitt has NO record of conservative public service—in fact quite the opposite as he was left of Ted Kennedy.
Both don’t always tell the truth but with Romney there is no proof he was EVER a conservative politician while with Newt there is.
Please. Gingrich is the frontrunner and the frontrunner always gets the most negative attention.
Instead of complaining that these stories are out there — which should be of no surprise to anyone (in fact, there will be many more coming) — why not spend energy defending Newt for repeatedly saying what Harry Reid said about President Bush — that President Reagan, his administration and his foreign policy was a complete failure.
No way Mitt will do more conservative “things” compared to Newt. So even if half the criticisms are true he’s still more conservative than Mitt. A Massachusetts political figure just doesn’t beat a Newt.
Drudge be a poofta.
I agree.
If he's going to be President, this will only work if conservatives DON'T gloss over Newt's foibles and failures and, rather, serve him strong notice that he OWES US this time and we WILL hold him accountable.
