Thank you for your well-reasoned reply. I agree that we are in a pitched battle and it’s not pretty.

I don’t follow what you are talking about about “deception.” I don’t see any deception in the articles that were posted on Drudge today. The facts are easily checkable.

My point is that it ticks me off to see people focused solely on how awful it is that someone actually brought up a speech that Gingrich actually made.

Gingrich made that speech. And he will have to account for it, which he may very well be able to do.

But we can’t get through an entire Gingrich campaign, and get this man elected, if all people got is “whhaaaa, it’s so unfair that they brought up his own words.”

Supporting a candidate does not entail pretending he has no flaws or political vulnerabilities.

Unless one views supporting a political candidate like being their Number One Fan, complete with pompoms and dance steps.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

I really like that prayer. Thanks for posting it.

“yes he is intelliegence, knows his way around, good debater who can wipe the floor with obama, knows history , founding fathers , constitution.”

Yes, Newt is well prepared for a series of debates that will never happen. There is no law that says that a politician needs to agree to any debates. Barky and his handlers aren’t dumb enough to agree to more than say one or two, which will be timed early enough to have a minimal impact on the outcome.

“What does you guy have Romney.”

mitt romney (always lower case) is NOT “my guy.” As bad as Newt is, I think mitt is worse. Not everyone who thinks Newt is a poor choice is a supporter of mitt.

FOR THE RECORD, Here were my candidates in order of preference:

Sarah Palin (great choice, won’t run now or ever)
Herman Cain (very good choice, Borked)
Ron Paul (Fair-to-good choice)
Rick Santorum(Fair choice, not fiscally conservative)
Newt Gingrich (poor choice)
mitt romney (horrible choice)

Hope that clears it up.

That video says it all! I am a hopeless technological illiterate and capable of using a computer only as a typewriter. It is a generational thing for me. May I call upon you from time to time to post this video to other threads? Convicting the Mittwit out of his own lying mouth works soooo much better than mere opposition rhetoric.

There is ALWAYS bias in news coverage. Just the selection of stories to cover is going to betray a bias: it says what you believe is important versus what is not.

For example, do you think that the decision by ABC to interview Newt’s ex-wife over say someone who has knowledge of obama’s dealings with bill ayers betrays a bias? I do.

Drudge is a news aggregator. He is going to post what is important to him. He obviously thinks Newt is a poor choice of candidate. I happen to agree with him on that point. He also seems to favor mitt romney or favor stories written by people who do favor mitt romney. I DO NOT agree with him on that.

See if the video at #231 changes your mind on the Mittwit. If he were nominated, then this party and this nation are finished. He is Obozo in whiteface and nothing more. His purpose in life is to make the GOP tame for his fellow trust fund babies. It would take us years to build a new political party to replace a thoroughly discredited GOP.

If you wind up voting for Mittwit because he has bought, bullied and bribed his way to the GOP nomination, you will be doing it without any votes from me or many others here and in the conservative movement.

Priority #1: Destroy Romney. Priority #2: Destroy Obozo. In the absence of the attainment of Priority #1, it is counterproductive to attain Priority #2. If this country MUST be destroyed, let it be destroyed by Demonrats and not by RINO quislings.

I guess that common sense takes away a person's potential to be a joy for you to be around. So be it! I will survive.

I don’t disagree in principle. Newt is a hot news item and a larger-than-life type figure. But even so i think Drudge et al. are going overboard. What Gingrich said about Reagan is fair game, it definitely gets viewer’s attention, yet so too does Romney saying “i’m a progressive.” Maybe Drudge sirened that around the internet and i missed it but in any event he has been going after Gingrich seemingly non-stop the last few days. And that, coupled with his friend Ann Coulter hitting Gingrich hard, makes it look like a tag-team effort by those two.

More than that, there’s just a sense of a massive piling on to help Romney win Florida and that once again the media are doing all they can to make sure that the candidate they want to win will win. They carried Obama across the finish line 4 years and they appear determined to do the same thing with Romney. To me, this election cycle should not only be about defeating the left but also sending a message to the real power behind the left, the media, that they have gone too far manipulating elections with their blatant partisan attacks while at the same time covering up for their media-approved candidates and politicians. If there isn’t a backlash against this type of “reporting” then i fear it may never end.

EXACTLY

The only difference between Romney and obama is that different kick backs will be given to different people.

There is no way on this earth a man can run to the left of Ted Kennedy and now say he is a conservative with his record.

The establishment has took us for granted for too long.
We told them in 2008 that we would lose and we did.
In2010 we sent them a warning no more RINO’s and they fought us and ignored us.
Now 2012 is here and they still ignore us which means now in 2012 I will ignore them in the election, money, votes and support.

You know we have a RINO and a liberal when planned parenthood and the homosexual lot have no problem with Romney.

Sarah Palin, Jesus Christ and Ronald reagan decided not to run this year.

Rick Santorum (regrettably) has never gotten traction and is simply dividing the vote of the Republican Wing of the Republican Party and hindering the all-important demolition of the Mittwit.

PaleoPaulie is the unquestioned leader of the George McGovern wing of the GOP (all three members of it) and relies on left-wing college students, dope-smokers, abortion lovers and pervert marriage wannabes as his base. Did you note that he was the only "GOP" vote recently to retain an accelerated schedule for taxing gun dealers and gun makers. Only five Demonrats voted with the Galveston space alien on that vote including his pal Dennis Cuckoocinich and Jerry "Pizza the Hut" Nadler. Paul is an absolute crackpot.

We apparently agree on destroying the Mittwit. If I am wrong, view the video at #231.

That leaves Newt Gingrich who is certainly imperfect but most resembles Teddy Roosevelt's famous man in the arena, covered with blood and mud but fighting on nonetheless. There aren't going to be any perfect candidates arriving at the last moment to lead us to the political promised land. Newt is it. The rest did not run or withdrew. It's Newt or Obozo.

If, God forbid, Mittwit buys, bullies and bribes his establishmentarian way to the nomination, I won't vote for him and neither will enough social conservatives to guarantee that he loses. If this country is going to be destroyed, that destruction must be perpetrated by Demonrats who admit publicly that they are Demonrats.

The time for rebellion is now!

Black Elk! I’m honored that you would reply to one of my screeds. Let’s go over your points one by one.

“Sarah Palin, Jesus Christ and Ronald reagan decided not to run this year.”

In my view, this election ended for conservatives when SP decided not to run. At this point we’re just making (bad)tradeoffs. I’ll go further and say that I’m more interested in putting down my markers for 2016 at this point than arguing over what choices remain in the 2012 disaster. See tagline.

“Rick Santorum (regrettably) has never gotten traction and is simply dividing the vote of the Republican Wing of the Republican Party and hindering the all-important demolition of the Mittwit.”

I agree that Santorum is a good candidate philosophically, albeit a somewhat weak candidate from an electoral perspective. To wit, losing his own Senate seat. His SoCon credentials are impeccable. Economic, notso hotso. Your logic as to him dividing the Republican Wing of the GOP cuts the other way as well; if Newt were to drop out, Santorum would probably emerge as the anti-mitt candidate.

“PaleoPaulie is the unquestioned leader of the George McGovern wing of the GOP (all three members of it) and relies on left-wing college students, dope-smokers, abortion lovers and pervert marriage wannabes as his base. Did you note that he was the only “GOP” vote recently to retain an accelerated schedule for taxing gun dealers and gun makers. Only five Demonrats voted with the Galveston space alien on that vote including his pal Dennis Cuckoocinich and Jerry “Pizza the Hut” Nadler. Paul is an absolute crackpot.”

This the part of your post that I find the most interesting. Particularly given that both you and I have a history of activism within the LP, and both of us eventually left. As you probably realize, I am a RP supporter, where you obviously are not.

I think the important thing with RP is not his own candidacy, which will not be successful. RP is not quite as crazy as you would suggest; he has to realize that he won’t win the Presidency. And he has as much as said so. Yet he will continue to plug away. Which points to another agenda. I think part of it is to bring small “L” libertarians into the GOP. But bigger picture, I think he is trying to change the philosophical perspective of the GOP. And in my view, that *has* to happen if the GOP is going to continue to be relevant. RP may or may not end up being successful, but I would certainly prefer more of his influence over the GOP’s philosophy than that of say Megan McCain or mitt romney.

“That leaves Newt Gingrich who is certainly imperfect but most resembles Teddy Roosevelt’s famous man in the arena, covered with blood and mud but fighting on nonetheless.
There aren’t going to be any perfect candidates arriving at the last moment to lead us to the political promised land. Newt is it. The rest did not run or withdrew. It’s Newt or Obozo.”

Calling Newt imperfect is the understatement of the week. He is a poor candidate that can appeal to about 30% of the population. What about the other 70%? Outside of that, this is not a winning candidacy in my view. While much hay has been made of his remarkable debating skills, what else does he bring to the table? A willingness to fight? That’s nice. The LSM and barky will, successfully I might add, characterize him as an extremist. He has little demonstrated ability to reach out to those who do not already support him. If the choice does become Newt vs barky, then plan on four more years of barky. While I will vote for Newt if he is nominated, that’s gonna be about it. If it’s mitt, I’ll stay home or vote 3rd party.

“If, God forbid, Mittwit buys, bullies and bribes his establishmentarian way to the nomination, I won’t vote for him and neither will enough social conservatives to guarantee that he loses.”

Much as I hate it, that might end up being the best case scenario. Have you considered what will happen to conservatives within the GOP if Newt is the candidate and then loses?

No, common sense is admirable. Insulting people because they do not agree exactly with your view is behavior not likely to inspire joy. It’s the type of attitude I associate with snarky, smarmy, Democrats. Obviously, they’re not the only ones who think a disagreement means don’t persuade the person just tell them they’re stupid or evil.

That's McGovern served is certainly true. He was a bomber pilot dropping big payloads over Trieste. Of course, we were quite honorably at war with the Nazis and we won. By 1948, McGovern was serving as a delegate to the Progressive Party Convention for its candidate Henry Wallace. Any non-communist on the roll of delegates would have been a rarity. Henry Wallace was sooooo far left that he alarmed FDR and was dropped from the Democrat ticket in 1944 with FDR asking the Democrat leadership to choose instead Harry Truman or, ummmm, William O. Douglas.

The test for McGovern would have been whether he would have been willing to be a bomber pilot again against the North Koreans and ed Chinese. I am betting the answer would have been a resounding NO! In bombing Trieste, he was helping not only the noble American war effort but also helping relieve the Nazi pressure against his utterly ignoble cherished Stalinist USSR.

It is also true that no one in Romney's ancestry, nor the Mittwit nor the Mittwit's four sons have ever served in the military. Service in the military, as his late peer Leona Helmsley might have said, is "for the little people." Any aggressions can be taken out fox hunting or on the polo field or maybe some nice yachting regatta. Cracked crab, champagne, Chateau Lafitte Rothschild 1929 and such after a well-fought polo match sure beat K-Rations in the jungles of Southeast Asia or traveling the IED infested roads of Iraq or Afghanistan. As the Mittwit might ask: Can you believe the temperatures in Iraqi summer? Can't they just air-condition that country when they know our troops will otherwise be uncomfortable?
