Nearly half of Mormons say church members face significant discrimination in the United States, and a third believe voters are not ready to elect Mitt Romney, or any other member of their church, president.
.........................................................
The Pew study found that almost half of Mormons in the U.S. consider themselves more discriminated against than African Americans.

Brigham Young, when making his play for control of Mormonism after the death of Joseph Smith, used the persecution card, including exaggerating the persecution, in order to keep loyalty and cohesion during the succession battle. The ‘us vs. them’ mentality served him well and continued on in Utah.
Sadly, it has become such a part of the culture (and to them ‘proof’ that the LDS church is ‘true’) that members will cry persecution if you ask questions. One member on here has told a story about how an LDS missionary she knew was ‘persecuted’ when someone threw a glass of water on her.
That isn’t persecution that is being overly-sensitive.
I can understand why exposing the anti-Christian teachings of MormonISM gets under your collar and you make false assertions which try to divert from the ISM and appear that the people are being 'hated'. That's the nature of the Mormon victim card. we see it daily at FR.
That Mormon effort to msidrect from the ISM to the individuals is a form of Mormon taqqiya, also known as 'lying for the faith'. In non-religious circles it would be known as political correctness run amok.
Some Mormons are Christians, but MormonISM is not what your founding false prophet, Joseph Smith calimed, it is not 'restored Christianity' because it is riddled with the spirit of anti-christ, like the following quote from one of your 'apostles', a quote found in the LDS inc Journal of Discourses:
"We may talk of men being redeemed by the efficacy of his [Christ's] blood; but the truth is that that blood has no efficacy to wash away our sins. That must depend upon our own action." [ LDS Apostle Amasa M. Lyman, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 7, p. 299, 1859]
Given this mormonic teaching that is the very essence of Antichrist, it is still amazing how much LDS inc apologists want folks to believe LDS inc is Christianity restored! MormonISM is the very essence of slick anti-Christ inveigling, and the promoters of this anti-Christian religion will continue to be exposed and opposed so long as Christians are not squelched by the political correctness approach inherent in the lie that exposing mormonISM is hate or hatred of the people trapped in this demonic cult.
Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!.......just a minute.......have to catch my breath......hahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Having been on the receiving end of the wrath of the Mormon Protective Association (MPA), this is a case of the fox crying about how the chickens are mean to him.
Please show us what posts against mormons.
There are many posts exposing mormonISM.
Who votes conservative? Are you implying mormons?
94% of mormons vote Romney, a majority vote Reid.....hardly conservative.
The SLC lds leaders want to portray the membership as conservative, as time progresses it has become apparent that lds are not as conservative politically as the PR machine suggests.
Last election cycle I fianlly got mad enough to go prove them wrong. I went into the church library and pulled they dusty old book from the top shelf and within hours the foundation of my entire life crumbled. LDS LEADERS LIKE LIKE ROMNEY TOLD ME TO LIE ABOUT IT AND COVER IT UP ! When I resigned and left the church, they called me a "BIGOT" ! FR Christians I had visciously battled with here like GreyFoxx39, Elsie, Reaganaut and many others immediately took me in and comforted me. God saved me from this VISCIOUSLY DECEPTIVE AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY DAMAGING CULT.
The quote I mentioned....
"Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (FLDS/LDS "PROPHET" JOESEPH SMITH, History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409)
Oh my!
That is just too damned BAD!!
"You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.
The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings.
This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race--that they should be the 'servant of servants', and they will be, until that curse is removed."
Brigham Young-President and second 'Prophet' of the Mormon Church, 1844-1877- Extract from Journal of Discourses.
Here are two examples from their 'other testament', the Book of Mormon.
2 Nephi 5: 21 'And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people, the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.'
Alma 3: 6 'And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.'
August 27, 1954 in an address at Brigham Young University (BYU), Mormon Elder, Mark E Peterson, in speaking to a convention of teachers of religion at the college level, said:
(Rosa Parks would have probably told Petersen under which wheel of the bus he should go sit.)
1967, (then) Mormon President Ezra Taft Benson said, "The Communist program for revolution in America has been in progress for many years and is far advanced. First of all, we must not place the blame upon Negroes. They are merely the unfortunate group that has been selected by professional Communist agitators to be used as the primary source of cannon fodder."
We are told that on June 8, 1978, it was 'revealed' to the then president, Spencer Kimball, that people of color could now gain entry into the priesthood. According to the church, Kimball spent many long hours petitioning God, begging him to give worthy black people the priesthood. God finally relented. |
Sometime before the 'revelation' came to chief 'Prophet' Spencer Kimball in June 1978, General Authority, Bruce R McConkie had said:
"The Blacks are denied the Priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty.
The Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow there from, but this inequality is not of man's origin, it is the Lord's doings."
(Mormon Doctrine, pp. 526-527).
When Mormon 'Apostle' Mark E Petersen spoke on 'Race Problems- As they affect the Church' at the BYU campus in 1954, the following was also said:
"...if the negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get celestial glory."
When Mormon 'Prophet' and second President of the Church, Brigham Young, spoke in 1863 the following was also said:
"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God is death on the spot. This will always be so."
(Journal of Discourses, Vo. 10, p. 110)
Yeah; Native Americans are althroughout the Book of MORMON; too.
I saw a striking contrast in the progress of the Indian people today ... they are fast becoming a white and delightsome people.... For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming white and delightsome, as they were promised.... The children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation.
At one meeting a father and mother and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl-sixteen-sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parentson the same reservation, in the same hogan, subject to the same sun and wind and weather.... These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness.
One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated.

BOO HOO!
Christians are MEAN to us!!!
Applause, brother!
I think LDS has plenty in common with Christians of all denominations. We believe in God, believe in Jesus Christ as the Savior, believe in living according to the teachings of Jesus.
I live and work around people who are almost all non-Mormons and find I have lots in common with other Christians. We have very similar values, ideals and hopes.
I think sometimes people blow up the differences to be a major problem. That’s why it’s surprising to come on FR and find people getting so upset about Mormonism. LDS are generally good neighbors, believers in common decency, lovers of country, family and friends.
I appreciate my friends of all religious backgrounds and enjoy associating with them.
Can't we all sing Kumbaya and just all get along...? Yeah, we COULD..if mormons stopped claiming to be Christians after nearly two centuries of denigrating everything Christian.
Sorry, this type of SO two-faced and condescending post from mormons that try to gloss over the lies that the mormon church leaders have told, including the one that compares them to persecuted blacks will NOT go unanswered.
The post I am responding to is just SO holier-than-thou and superior. Whether someone "gets along and has much in common" does not alter the fact that mormon belief is that all other faiths are apostate and the only way to salvation is through the gates of the mormon temple, and most importantly in this context "mormons are special God chose Joseph Smith to restore His Gospel".
Echoes of the old "Some of my best friends are...black, hispanic, etc. etc. "gentile" ring out over the land.
Amen sister!
Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Mormonism is NOT Christian in any sense of the word.
Hear Hear!
Norm, of all the mormons I've interacted with in real life and here on FR, I find it hard to believe you just wrote that.
You and the other mormon FReepers should know quite well why Christians get "upset about mormonism".
It's not like it hasn't been explained and shown to you all numerous times.
They have eyes but will not see. They have ears but will not listen. Trying to debate a Mormon vs Christianity is like trying to pick up mercury wearing rubber gloves.
