It wouldn't be Christmas without 'A Christmas Story,' the 1983 movie that became an instant holiday classic thanks to its winning cast and quotable scenes. The film is as time-honored a tradition as getting your tongue stuck to a pole in freezing weather. Here's a then-and-now look at the gang from fictional Hohman, Indiana, who brought the 'original, traditional, one-hundred-percent, red-blooded, two-fisted, all-American Christmas' tale to life ...

Years ago, I went to a chinese place up there with family and friends.
Well one of the friends had a tender elbow.
Mama San over hears the complaint and at the end of the night she brings this noodle ,ginger, galic affair and says:
“You take this! Wrap elbow! but dont let dog sleep in bed!”
She thanked her and said why do I have to keep the dog out of bed?
Mama San replied: “Dog gonna eat the medicine!”
I almost split my sides a laffin!
“Do they sing Clistmas Calols?...”
Yes they do! They have a permanent, year round Christmas display. After all, the movie is their claim to fame. It’s a good traditional Chinese restaurant. Good food, good prices. But all the best Chinese restaurants in Cleveland, at least the top four, are in constant competition over chefs. I always drive past them all, before deciding where to eat. I look for the place with the most Toyotas and Hondas!
Great story! I have a Chinese herbal Doc in Cleveland. I had to walk with a cane 12 years ago,,,, arthritic right knee. My ladyfriend at that time was from Shanghai. She took me to meet Mr. Zhu. Three herbal treatments, three bags of assorted herbs, per week, to make tea with, and I no longer remember where I put my cane! And I was a total skeptic!
The book is far better than the movie (”In God We Trust-All Others Pay Cash” by Jean Shepherd).
The movie was a real disappointment.
True story! LoL
“A crummy commercial?”
“BUMP-AHSSESSSSS!!!”
“Deck the harrs wich barrs of horrry, far ra ra ra ra,ra,ra, ra,RAH”
McGavin was perfect. Nicholson would have been too much of himself as himself. McGavin played the little guy looking for a break “you have won a significant prize” fishnet leg lamp... working, loving father. Many of our dads.
>>I had a phaser when I was 9, but my parents always made me set it on stun<<
OMG! You made my Christmas!!!

Some people are heartless.
Couldn't find a thing on him dated after Apr. 2007. Slated for deportation then.
McGavin stole every scene in that movie. He was made for that role.
Gave both my sons engraved AR-15’s. Both Armalite M-15 carbines converted to shoot .22LR and the collapsible stocks made it easy as they grew, and fun as the weapon could get more powerful as they gained confidence.

No one in my family had ever seen it so last night we gave it a whirl . . . and turned it off 20 minutes into it . . . and then erased it. If the DVR had a setting for movies to block from coming into the house, this would be on the list.
Just curious - why?
Good timing. Just finished watching the movie 2 minutes ago.

I agree! I love the way he battles the furnace, and when he tries to plug the lamp into the one outlet that’s overloaded with plugs.
The movie gets all the details right except for my one pet peeve-—what’s up with the mom’s hairstyle???
