While the test is only going to be TEMPORARY, I DO NOT TRUST THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WITH THIS POWER, NOR SHOULD ANY AMERICAN!

No one man should have the ability to shut down ALL RADIO & TV broadcasting. If this were to be done when the Obama Regime actually intended to carry out certain plans to further consolidate and usurp power, rather than a 'test,' it would constitute the grossest violation of the Constitution in American history. It would mark the beginning of a real-live dictatorship here on American soil. It's disturbing enough that ANY President would take such powers. But for the Barack Hussein Obama Regime, while his 'useful idiots' are massing all around the nation, it's a clear shot across the bow.

CALL YOUR CONGRESSMEN. Ask them to explain to you, where, exactly in the Constitution is the President authorized to shut down all TV & Radio broadcasts nationwide, for ANY reason. Then inform them that the Barack Hussein Obama Regime can be trusted least of all men who have lived in the White House, with such UNCONSTITUTIONAL POWERS! Then insist that they sponsor legislation to revoke this UNCONSTITUTIONAL POWER!

Boy is that an exaggeration. I just watched the clip and in no manner did Beck say they were taking away radio or TV forever. He did say and it is in the FEMA memo that some stations may not indicate it is a test. And he expressed concern that this test/non-test may cause some confusion. And such that ...why do something like this in the middle of the work day, instead of the middle of the night. Which I am old enough to recall they did a lot of the TV EBS tests at midnight, just in case the 'test' message failed and caused panic.

It's a national Emergency Alert System test and it has been done at least once before, possible twice.

In any case I run a monthly test on three of the radio stations I work at. They aren't shut down at all. They are used to relay the message.

While I'm no fan of the EAS, there should be a system in place to relay national emergencies. My problem with the EAS is that it doesn't work as it should. When we had operators on duty at stations the test was supposed to be run by the operator and logged. Now many stations don't have anyone on duty overnight and some even during the day. Because of that EAS is trying to automate the system. That is what the test is about.

I understand the concern however many of the same people worrying about this test would probably also be upset if we didn't relay local, state or national emergency data.

IMO the people making a fuss about this - well intention-ed as they may be - are doing more damage than good.
