Cain Proposes Electrified Border Fence
Pravda- NY Times Division ^ | 10/15/11 | Wyatt

Posted on 10/15/2011 4:18:53 PM PDT by VinL

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...

Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.

The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..

It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.

“It’s going to be 20 feet high. It’s going to have barbed wire on the top. It’s going to be electrified. And there’s going to be a sign on the other side saying, ‘It will kill you — Warning.’” At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written “in English and in Spanish.”

“This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors,” Mr. Cain said at the second rally. “We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And we’re going to shut off the back door so you don’t have to sneak into America.”

Really? Israel is facing a crisis of ceasing to exist. Is that the same solution that you propose for us? Thank you, Perry Supporter, for showing us how to cease to exist! ..... NYCslicker

=======

Did you purposely try to create the most ridiculously absurd Strawman non sequitur you could possibly think of, or are you actually that stupid?

If anybody knows how to control hordes of hostile neighbors and HAS SUCCEEDED, it is Israel.

Is your I.Q. so pathetically low that you cannot figure out that we are discussing THE EFECTIVENESS OF A PARTICULAR MILITARY STRATEGY IN THE MIDDLE OF A DESERT and not magically turning the U.S. into 6 million Jews surrounded by 300 million Arabs?

Come on, really, nobody can be THAT stupid.

You sound like somebody pushing for Mitt Romney to get the GOP nomination without actually admitting it on Free Republic because you know how Jim Rob feels about Romney.

So, a "New York City slicker" is telling the Israelis and the Texans what works and what does not in the middle of the Negev Desert and in the middle of the Texas desert?

So, a "New York City slicker" Mitt Romney supporter is using Agitprop smear tactics, which you probably picked up from all the Communists that concentrate in New York City, to smear Perry so that your next door neighbor, Mitt Romney, can get nominated.

Thank you, Romney Supporter, for smearing the one conservative that had a chance to beat Romney.

And, no, Herman Cain will not beat Romney.

Herman Cain is spending October hawkings books on a national Barnes & Noble book tour while leaving the serious fund-raising needed to win an election to his buddy, Mitt Romney.

Like you, New York City slicker, Herman Cain supports Mitt Romney.

Herman Cain said Wednesday that he would be unable to support Rick Perry for president if the Texas governor were to eventually win the party's nomination. .... The former businessman said, for instance, that he could support former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney....

I bet you feel pretty stupid now that Cain said he was joking.

I don’t think he was joking, but it was a joke. Trespassing a capital offence? Interestingly, you seem to be in agreement with Iran’s government, who summarily execute americans who they decide are illegally in their country.

Anyway, maybe you’ll explain to us today that YOU were joking as well — although I’ll admit I usually get a good laugh at your posts whether you mean them that way or not.

I agree with you!

In addition, we have American troops in Europe, South Korea, Japan, Iraq, and Afghanistan—with real guns and real bullets—who maintain the internal integrity and border security of those places. Not to mention all the treasure that the American Tax Payer is on the hook for to maintain it.

If we somehow can’t maintain a secure border in the southwestern US because the terrain is too rough and the task too difficult, then why are we trying so hard to do it in inhospitable places all over the world???

Why on earth would I feel bad? The points stand. Laugh as you will. Do you think Cain is joking about seriously containing the border?

BTW, answer post 827.

Where is the Rio in your picture?

I am not sure what the best bet is for the Rio — probably a different type of barrier (since we don’t want to keep ourselves out of it).

I posted what Israel has successfully deployed and manned. It should work for the land areas, which is where the flood of illegals still comes from.

We do need better border control, most of which would be achieved by a program where we could sort out the Mexican would-be field hands and hotel maids from Chinese prostitutes and Middle Easterners or Africans coming here to sell drugs or go on welfare.

The problem is that the Romney-Cain attack on Perry made it sound like he was in favor of “open borders,” which is pretty ironic considering that Texas has spent more than any other state in trying to secure its enormously long border. So this is what people who hear the latest candidate’s attack sound-bite and never go beyond it are responding to, and it’s completely false. The puzzling thing is that the person who has the most liberal record on illegal immigration is Romney, who is never attacked for it. And unlike Cain, who has never held office or had to develop an official policy for dealing with anything, Romney had ample opportunity to work out good policies and never did so.

“BTW, for all the Anti=fence/pro-Perry types...it’s been 1 hr 45 min and still no one has addressed post 827.

You are so right. I’m not referring to Lucky Lady here, but I think a lot of others are Romney plants just playing their own game of Operation Chaos.

Well, let me address it.

Let's see .... post 827 ..... it advocates "to kill invaders in defense of our border", which would include women and children ... blah, blah, blah, .....

That sounds like either red meat at a Skinhead web site or it sounds like some Democratic Underground agitprop troll would sound if he wanted to show proof that "Conservatives are Baby Killers ... Look at what they wrote on Free Republic! .... Actually, I wrote it myself, posing as a FReeper. Saul Alinsky would be proud of me.".

After that ... If the U.S. can build this or that (go to the Moon or whatever) why can't we build a Fence .... blah, blah, blah ....

Well, if the U.S. can go to the Moon, why can't the U.S. find a way to engineer the digging of a 1,000 foot deep hole stretching the length of the Washington Mall and then fill it right back up again?

Because it is a %#&@ing waste of money that serves no purpose and does nothing but create damage to the property.

The Israelis, whose very existence depends on border security, DO NOT EXTEND THEIR FENCE THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT BECAUSE IT SERVES NO PRACTICAL PURPOSE THERE.

You guys do not give a rat's @ss about what ACTUALLY WORKS.

All you care about is finding something, anything, to bash Rick Perry over the head with.

Strip Texas property owners of their property rights and give away the ENTIRE RIO GRANDE RIVERFRONT to Mexico's side of a Fence?

No problem! We only care about bashing Perry!

.... but I think a lot of others are Romney plants just playing their own game of Operation Chaos.

What two candidates are actually prepared for the upcoming Primary election campaign that will require millions of dollars in financing?

Hint: Not the guy that is spending October hawking books at a Barnes & Noble national book-signing tour.

Romney Rounds Up Backing Among Key G.O.P. Donors

Herman Cain Only Has 'Several Hundred Thousand Dollars' In The Bank .... Compare that to Romney's $14 million or Perry's $18 million

Michael Steele to Herman Cain: Get Off the Book Tour

Who is doing everything they can to bash the only candidate that is far more conservative than Romney and would have any chance to actually beat Romney?

Well, there is Herman Cain ....

Herman Cain said Wednesday that he would be unable to support Rick Perry for president if the Texas governor were to eventually win the party's nomination. .... The former businessman said, for instance, that he could support former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney....

Then there is also the two of you.

Since Jim Rob has made it clear that he will NOT support Romney or tolerate those who do, what is a Romney supporter going to do on Free Republic to help Romney get nominated?

EXACTLY what the two of you are doing:

Smear Perry. Smear Perry. Smear Perry.

You’re building straw men, here, and base your response on the comments of one “chick.”

I don’t identify at all with the picture you’ve drawn, and neither does Governor Rick Perry, with his history of innovative border security measures since 2001.

I’ve never been an open borders advocate. I have pointed out that the Texas border has a “moat” already - the Rio Grande. I have advocated the same thing Rick Perry has advocated repeatedly. Using Texas Rangers, DPS, local Sheriffs and Law Enforcement, and a strategically place fence. This is a much better solution that has worked where it’s been used.

Rather than an arbitrary fence, design a “no man’s land” of a road with clear line of sight along the river and facilitate frequent but irregular patrols, with agents spaced closely enough to respond - whether by auto, plane or helicopter to sensors or observers, and definitely all the force that is necessary, especially in light of the military incursions mentioned last night/this morning.

“pussyfication?” Perhaps you mean the castration of America, or the impotence? A lack of strength and backbone, perhaps?

Sarah Palin and her supporters have commented frequently about the source of weakness in American leadership. It doesn’t come from conservative women or the men who are willing to “man up.”

To respond to your crude comment in as delicate a manner as I can, let me say that as a happily married woman, married for 37 1/2 years to a great man, I’ve never understood why men use our private parts to describe their own failures. The organ you are so afraid of comes in handy. Over and over.

Cain is damaging the entire Republican party and conservatives by becoming a caricature of a conservative, giving ammunition to the Democrats about how “intolerant and cruel” Republicans are, ensuring that Hispanic voters will vote for the Dems, never for Republicans.

Great going Cain and great going “conservatives” who can’t think themselves strategically out of a paperbag.

If Obama paid Cain, Cain couldn’t have done more damage to the conservative cause by his stupid, inflammatory rhetoric, which only accomplished the objective of the Democrats, to paint Republicans as anti-Hispanic.

How do you think this would go over in a general election?

And now all of a sudden Cain says it was a “joke”. Some joke!

The thing I think this thread shows is people are po'ed because nothing has been done for so long it's just a pathetic problem that keeps growing. One need not look far of the gun runnnig, the brutal kidnappings and slave trade( ask any ICE agent about that), the drugs, the gangs and all the tax reapers that get freebies with illegal SS card( and none. One need only see USC's hospital on a Friday night or any night stock full of illegals from gunshot wounds, heart attacks to oh a broken arm from skateboarding to bar fights. Something feasible needs to be done.

In jest I do suggest those nice yellow Indonesian sea snakes that will kill in a half hour. Okay, okay seriously,I think a border you are proposing would work in keeping most out. There will always be some getting through any border as no border( ie Israel's problem with the bus in Eilat from Pali border crossers) so I can't defend cain, I just think he's talking likie he wants to do something about the border and he has people talking. This is a good thing. The bad think I think most on this huge thread can agree is doing nothing just exacerbates the problem and is no solution at all. Take cae, I'm out here.

Any Illegal stupid enough to challenge our border by any means is opening THEMSELVES to deadly force. WE are not going into Mexico and forcing them to come here. They do it of their own free will and the reason MATTERS NOT AT ALL WHY.

Thanks for that and the rest of your post. There may be hope yet.

The FROBL's (Free Republic Open Borders Lobby) here have a vested interest in illegals.

A perfect example of the inadequate mental capabilities of an open borders person.

It's not "trespassing" - it's invasion.

Here’s a few examples of how some CINOs here on FR have addressed the issue of border security and those wanting it, in the last couple hours.... Speaks for itself.

“I’d like to see things from your point of view but I can’t seem to get my head up my ass.”

“OPK, let me rephrase this — what do you think will happen, when an AMERICAN kid will accidentally touch the electric fence and dies?”

“Can you imagine some little Mexican kid touching the fence and dying, do you have any idea of the political repercussions?! “

“Here’s a good plan. I think the Feds should build this Israeli style wall on the Tex-Mex border and drag you yahoos who support electrifying illegal border crossers, or those who like the land mine or machine gun option better, to the top of the wall and thrown your butts into the Rio Grande”

“I don’t know what makes you so stupid, but it’s really working.”

“Oh shut up with your ignorance. If you are too dumb to figure out that it will take a good chunk of those Hispanic votes to win the election then I can’t help you.”

““It is politically stupid to alienate the fastest growing demographic.””

“I accomplished my objective. I exposed the nativist idiots that dwell on this forum and there are a bunch. ... Border security conservatives like myself don’t believe electrified fences, land mines and machine guns on the border is a wise decision.”

Yup, nothing like good, sound, and emotion free factual discussion.
