IT WILL BE THE JOBS ISSUEand Texass record in creating themthat will define Rick Perrys presidential run. Since he became governor in 2001, the U.S. as a whole has had a net loss of private-sector jobs, while Texaswhich has only 8 percent of the nations populationhas had a net gain of 825,000 jobs.
Richard Fisher, president of the Dallas Federal Reserve Board, told me that if you look at the number of jobs created since the recession technically ended in June 2009, Texas has accounted for 48 percent of net new jobs created in the U.S.
Fisher also disparages claims that the jobs are all low-paying jobs at McDonalds or Walmart, paying the minimum wage, or that they were primarily caused by the oil and natural gas boom. According to Tom Pauken of the Texas Work Force Commission, the annual median wage in Texas in 2010 for all occupations was $31,500 a year, only 7 percent below the national average. That difference is easily explained by the fact that Texas has a younger workforce than most states and a higher percentage of workers in lower-pay agriculture jobs near the border with Mexico. [ CW: Cost of living in Texas is lower than many other states; Texas has no state income tax; Texas is a right to work state.]
As for where the job growth has been, three sectors of the economy have grown faster than the energy sector, which alone added 40,500 net new jobs in 2010. Last year, Texas added 57,900 new jobs in trade, transportation, and utilities; a total of 53,400 jobs in professional and business services; and 44,900 net new jobs in the hospitality industry.
For each of the past seven years, CEOs polled by Chief Executive magazine have rated Texas first in the nation for economic development climate and job growth. What is the secret of Texass success? Rick Perry isnt shy about his answer. Its all about four points, he told me. First, dont spend all the money. Keep the taxes low and under control. Have regulations that are fair and predictable so business owners know what to expect from one quarter to the next. And reform the legal system so that frivolous lawsuits dont paralyze employers who are trying to create real wealth.
If there is on issue which Perry has made a personal crusade, it is lawsuit reform. Working with the legislature, he has helped pass curbs on frivolous lawsuits, implemented a first-in-the-nation system under which loser pays all court costs in many lawsuits, and reformed medical malpractice law.
Dick Weekley, the co-founder of Texans for Lawsuit Reform, says Perry showed genuine political courage in resisting calls for watered-down reforms that wouldnt have addressed the core problem. He recalls that in 2002 Perry vetoed a bill strongly supported by doctors that would have required them to prompt payment from health maintenance organizations. In the eyes of the tort reform advocates, the bill was a Trojan Horse compromise negotiated between doctors and trial lawyers. There was a huge response from physicians [against the veto], Kim Ross, the former top lobbyist for the Texas Medical Association, said. TMA went so far as to endorse Tony Sanchez, Perrys millionaire Democratic opponent in the 2002 election. Perry sent a signal that he wanted real reform and would stand his ground, Weekley told me. Soon the medical lobbyists playing footsie with the trial lawyers were gone and the obstacles to real reform started falling. [end excerpt]
Actually, Romney can get 1200 delegates without any southern votes. He has plenty of money to get through non-consequential states like IA, NH, and SC and can reach the delegate rich states of NY, CA, the Northeast and Southwest.
Well...I just go vote where I live we go to the same place and vote either in the dem area or the repulican area for primaries...in the general we all vote together.
A Mormon can easily win the GOP primary.
A Jewish person, a Catholic, a Muslim, or an Agnostic could just as easily win it if they have the ideals and panache to do it. Two of the biggest GOP rising stars right now are Jindal and Haley.......both Indian. No regard to their religion is or should be played. What’s in their head and comes out of their mouths matters.
Malkin is Phillipino (I assume Catholic, no?) and I’d vote for her in a heartbeat.
Religion does not similarly equate to stance on positions and actions in office. JFK was a Catholic and just as “conservative” as many in the GOP race today. Hell, I could vote for him today without pause.
Romney can win the GOP primary. So could a few other people. But I am not, and will not, invest personally in any of them and neither should anyone else lest they become beholden and deeply disappointed. That is all.
David Stein is naïve at best. He tries to establish that the sect of Islam that Aga Kahn leads is a moderate sect. That may be well and true but they are still Muslim, Islam is their religion, the Quran is their holy book and Sharia is their law. Those who are supporters of Perry will try to tell us that the sect Aga Kahn leads are not a threat to this country. Dont fall for it. ALL Muslims must follow the Quran unless they are lying to deceive you (which is sanctioned in the Quran and Ill show that here) until they gain large enough numbers and influence.
Now lets look at some of their holy book. Ill shock you in a little bit with the Sharia law aspect in Texas.
The "Religion of Truth" (Islam) must prevail, by force if necessary, over all other religions. 9:33
If you refuse to fight for Allah, he will punish you with a painful doom. 48:16
Sura (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"
Sura (9:123) - "O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness."
Sura (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah"
This is bottom line for ALL Muslims. There may be those who will try to fool you into believing they are moderate but theirs is the task of infiltration into societies until they are a large enough society to take over.
Lets look at the aspect of lying to further the cause of Islam.
Quran (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can compel a Muslim to tell a lie.
Quran (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to guard themselves.
Quran (2:225) - Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts
Quran (66:2) - Allah has already ordained for you, (O men), the dissolution of your oaths
Now lets look at how far Perry has allowed Shria law to infiltrate the legal system in Texas. The following case (website included) should scare the crap out of you if you are an American Patriot and especially anyone who is truly a conservative.
Its a divorce case but Ill include a line that should get your attention.
Heres the line from the case document found at the site.
On September 25, 2002, all five parties signed an "Arbitration Agreement." This document recites, in full, that the parties:
after consultation with their respective attorneys, agree to submit all claims and disputes among them to arbitration by the TEXAS ISLAMIC COURT, 888 s. Greenville Ave., suite 188, Richardson, Texas, as follows:
Ill bet you didnt know there was already a TEXAS ISLAMIC COURT did you.
http://www.2ndcoa.courts.state.tx.us/opinions/htmlopinion.asp?OpinionId=14601
Dont let people tell you that a little bit of Islam ok or that they are moderate Muslims. Muslims and Islam are NOT compatible with a Free Republic or our Constitution.
Unfortunately, Cain/Bachmann/Santorum can’t compete in CA, NY, etc during the Primary. Not enough cash, too conservative. Romney is taking the McCain path and it’s wide open for him.
Seriously, who can get in his way?
Just because he hasn't managed to do so in his first 61 years is no reason for concern. The convention is months away. Now check out his steely gaze!
Magritte, here’s the deal.
Of the serious contenders....Romney, Perry, Cain, even Newt.......Romney has said the least to insult my intelligence and done the least for me to question his candidacy.
I’ve declared for no one and have invested myself in no personalities. Romney is a soft Eastern Republican with giant shades of 1960s GOP.......but he hasn’t completely insulted or peaved me off. I have some respect for that, in the least.
Palin is a tease running a financial campaign. Perry is my governor who I have real reservations about. Cain is nice......but no real money or organization. Santorum is awesome, but, he just never catches fire.
That’s what it comes down to for me.
I don’t stick myself upon religion.
I am a “white boy” in Texas who grew up ranching with guns and with a dad who told organized religion to take a hike because of the BS.
I don’t give a damn about Protestant or Catholic or Hindu or Buddhist. Makes not a shard to me. What does make a Damn to me is the basics of the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. The Commandments are simplifications of Hammurabi’s Code and the Golden Rule is just the simple rule of life, irregardless of crede.
You’re a better man than I am.
Perry did not conceive of this thing, congress did. They passed in pieces beginning in, I believe, 1991. Bush signed it in 2002. This was the I69 portion and federally mandated. Perrys part in this was bringing in arms of this I69 corridor, both the legislature and voters approved. The thing didnt become a disaster until TXdot staked it out and farmers realized eminent domain was going to walk all over them. This was not Perrys fault. I posted a link of the truth which you will not accept.
But then since you continue to hold on to untruths...what's the point of this discussion...you've made of your mind and so far facts are not important to you. So I end this discussion.
That’s exactly why the US military should go in.
” Youre a spinner Liz, Ill give you that.
Perry will seal the border and grow a conservative ascendancy as he has here in Texas.
Your lies have been discounted over and over”
1) Liz doesn’t lie.
2) YOU spin, Liz posts FACTS, along with her trademark wit.
3) Liz has been here since 1997.
4) Trashing doctrinaire conservatives to boost your RINO probably isn’t a good idea.
