Actually, Romney can get 1200 delegates without any southern votes. He has plenty of money to get through non-consequential states like IA, NH, and SC and can reach the delegate rich states of NY, CA, the Northeast and Southwest.

Jim Robinson had it right few days ago: "If Romney is the GOP candidate, I’m no longer a Republican." That's exactly how I see it.

But Romney would have to get awful lucky. He's had the media pimping him and Perry as the only GOP candidates, but it's not quite working the way they intended and things are starting to fall apart. By all rights, Romney and Perry should have pulled far ahead of the field, and instead, they aren't, not even close. They should have especially pulled far away from Cain - he has a fraction of the name recognition they do and the media has been downplaying his accomplishments. But they haven't pulled away. Which is why I think the Perry camp is so nervous and trying to make this out to be that if you don't support Perry, you support Romney.

Unfortunately, Cain/Bachmann/Santorum can’t compete in CA, NY, etc during the Primary. Not enough cash, too conservative. Romney is taking the McCain path and it’s wide open for him.

Seriously, who can get in his way?
