Media Silence Is Deafening About Important Gun News
Fox News ^ | September 30, 2011 | John R. Lott Jr.

Murder and violent crime rates were supposed to soar after the Supreme Court struck down gun control laws in Chicago and Washington, D.C.  Politicians predicted disaster. "More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence," Washington’s Mayor Adrian Fenty warned the day the court made its decision.

Chicago’s Mayor Daley predicted that we would "go back to the Old West, you have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle it in the streets . . . ."  The New York Times even editorialized this month about the Supreme Court's "unwise" decision that there is a right for people "to keep guns in the home."

But Armageddon never happened. Newly released data for Chicago shows . . .

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Mr. Lott has become, by virtue of his inassaiable statistical analyses, the guy the A-G types ignore because they know who’s left bleeding when they cross swords !

I’m hoping Mr. Lott will take on the lamestream media’s almost universal lack of coverage on Operation Fast and Furious. It has everything - in other more conservative administrations - they slavered over for endless weeks ! In fact it has everything but sex - and maybe that (at least symbolically ) - when one imagines what’s going on in the executive levels of ATF, FBI, DHS and DOJ ! >PS

It sickens me the deliberate, obvious, traitorous, but oh-so-predictable lack of attention being paid not only to F & F, but to Solyndra as well. Less than 1/10 of these types of scandals would have had the media howling and gnashing their teeth, day and night, until impeachment was afoot.

Damn filthy slaves, that’s what our “free press” is.

Blood in the streets, the OK Corral, blah, blah, blah. They have been trotting out these dire warnings for decades and they've not come to pass, but the media gladly reprints them every time as if they'd never heard them before.

I think they are getting confused by the ...well regulated militia... part and figure that it means some local army unit or law enforcement or such, not everyone.

Daley was a vicious thug tyrant/crook (replaced by another vicious thug tyrant/crook). The New York Times is the House Organ for socialist totalitarians.

They are PRECISELY the reason that the Second Amendment was written!

IF Britain would stop there insane policies of gun ownership...it would blow them away how fast crimes would drop. They also need to allow their coppers to carry guns. Britain has went insane.

Not onlt that, but the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral was such a rarity at the time (1881) that it made headlines across the country.

Yes, they like to read the “well regulated militia” part and then entirely ignore “the right of the people” part.

The Constitution follows a very simple formula - they outline the desire or problem - then propose the proper solution.

For example - Congress shall have the power to promote the the useful arts and sciences is the desire - it itself is not a mandate - the power given to Congress to promote the useful arts and sciences is the granting of exclusive rights (patents).

Similarly the desire is for a well regulated militia to secure a free state - the proposed solution was that the right of the people to keep and bear arms would not be infringed.

There are numerous examples of EXACTLY this formulation. The preceding clause gives the reason for the power granted (or denied).

Press is free. Access is not. As the Federal Government grows and grows and grows its importance to the news cycle grows. Reporters and outlets critical of the administration lose their access. They are blackballed. If you are in the business of being in the media, then it is bad for business to be critical of the government or its myriad agencies. Simple economics drives the decision, though no doubt there is bias among the pools of reporters and columnists too.

It is a good thing the MSM is dieing, and alternate media is growing. I imagine that 2012 will be a banner year for alternative media, home reportage, viral videos etc etc and play a major part in the success of the victors. If the MSM won’t do it, others will. If Justin Beiber can become rich and famous from a couple of youtube videos, then surely youtube can be a critical component to victory in 2012.

Every anti-gunner since the first state loosened the CC laws has used that very same, tired cliche. Do they EVER get tired of being wrong?

“I’m hoping Mr. Lott will take on the lamestream media’s almost universal lack of coverage on Operation Fast and Furious.”

Well, PiperShade, if a Marxist criminal is running guns, grenades and gatling guns, that’s cool. Our Goebbel’s press will ignore it.

But if an ordinary citizen-patriot wants a six-shooter, the pigs in the Goebbel’s press will scream for gun control.

What the leftists are really afraid of is that patriots are better shots than the cluck-cluck-cluck purse-carrying metrosexual chickens infesting DC.

As long as one stayed out of saloons, you would much safer in any “Wild West” town including Tombstone, Bodie or Deadwood in the 19th Century than any big city in America at the present time.
