"More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence," Washington’s Mayor Adrian Fenty warned the day the court made its decision.

Chicago’s Mayor Daley predicted that we would "go back to the Old West, you have a gun and I have a gun and we'll settle it in the streets . . . ."

Blood in the streets, the OK Corral, blah, blah, blah. They have been trotting out these dire warnings for decades and they've not come to pass, but the media gladly reprints them every time as if they'd never heard them before.

Not onlt that, but the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral was such a rarity at the time (1881) that it made headlines across the country.
