According to the survey, which was released Monday, 28 percent of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say they support Perry as their party's presidential nominee, with Romney at 21 percent. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is at ten percent, with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who's making his third bid for the White House, former Godfather's Pizza CEO and radio talk show host Herman Cain, and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, all at seven percent. The poll indicates that Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is at four percent, with former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania at three percent and former Utah Gov. and ambassador to China Jon Huntsman at one percent.

I would vote for son of sam over obama at this point.
” all Pubbies will crawl over glass to get B. O. out”
I wouldn’t cross the street to piss on Romney if he was on fire, let alone vote for him.
I’d vote down-ticket and just leave that blank, or do a write in.
My vote matters in NM, too. We have a paltry 4 electors or something, but we swing on a couple hundred votes each election.
Who said that??? Both polls are valid for what they are. Cain had a great showing at the debate and was rewarded for it in the Straw Poll. I'm happy for him...I love the guy. But Rick Perry is still the strongest candidate we have...as this poll indicates. I think Cain's straw pooll number will give him more visability and boost him from 3rd tier and easily ignored to 2nd tier, hard to ignore. It's still early and a lot can happen. As my tag line indicates I think Perry and Cain would make an excellent ticket.
No one in their right marble trusts a CNN poll. Perry will be “promoted” in the polls by the Commie Mainstream Media because Perry would be the easier for Obama to beat in the Presidential election.
We might not like that, but if it's fact, then we have to deal with it.
and remember that Cain was mentioned as a possible VP by Perry himself!
I would LOVE to see Perry/Cain 2012!
It means activists aren't happy with Perry. But, as this poll indicates, that really hasn't hurt Perry with the broader electorate, which is what anyone with any political sophistication would have predicted. The debates, as usual, have been much ado about nothing. We are right where we have been since Perry got in the race. He's the prohibitive favorite. Mitt is the also ran with no support outside the Republican Party's vestigial left wing. Everyone else is a no-hoper.
The dissatisfaction that drove Cain's straw poll win means that there is an opportunity for another conservative candidate. But it is far from clear that there is any candidate ready, willing and able to exploit that opportunity.
The “Perry is Toast” chorus is going to be disappointed. The “heartless” squall, like the gardasil squall will blow over leaving the race exactly as it always was. Perry remains the closest thing we have to a serious conservative candidate. Romney remains a proud progressive statist. Barring a new entry Perry wins, easily.
“...The question should be asks..........
Why does the Liberal Media in their Polls want us to support Mittens Romney?..”
For the same reason they wanted us to support McCain.
And when the first poll out of the gate following a less than stellar debate performance finds his support basically unchanged...that's significant.
Perry has it all wrong on tuition for illegal children.
The American people are just as innocent as the illegal children. Further, the children are Mexican or whatever citizens and can apply for scholarships in their own country to go to school in the United States.
What are they going to say when they graduate? “I want to thank Mom and Dad for being dishonest and sneaky and bringing me here for a discounted education on your dime”
There ya go folks. Perry 28 and Romney 21.
No bounce for Herman Cain who sits at 7%.
That could change, even in a CNN poll.
Waiting on Rasmussen.
This is silly! The hostile MSM is continuously trying to manipulate the thoughts of the voting population with their OPINION Polls ! These are polls based on OPINIONS, and not facts !
Here is a fact that anyone can generate: The % of a candidates’ standing in a CNN OPINION Poll is directly proportional to the number of minutes CNN has spent talking about that candidate.
Make a plot and post it here!
In other words, CNN takes an OPINION Poll to show their advertisers how effective the viewed retention is with their viewers, and thus raise CNN’s advertising rates accordingly.
The inverse would be true if the question was: “ In your humble, but ALWAYS correct opinion, which candidate has the best ideas to lead us out of THE VALLEY OF DEBT ? “
The answer would be Herman Cain, the candidate with the least talking minutes on CNN, and thus the least appeal to advertisers.
I love Cain and will happily support him in the primary...him or Perry. His straw poll win was great for momentum for him but a landslide in a straw poll isn't much of a landslide. And no...it's not a fluke. A lot of those straw poll voters were at the debate and I'd say most watched all or part of it. And they liked what they saw!
I could vote for Perry/Cain.
No to Romney!
Why not? Do you only check in on polls from pollsters who you think will post a result that you already agree with??? That's silly. And don't kid yourself into thinking that CNN is any more biased than Fox. Fox is in the tank for Romney...they have been for months and they don't even bother trying to hide it at this point.
It looks like Perry’s supporters are ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. He still has time to right his ship in the upcoming debates.
“Do these people still believe that Cains landslide in the Florida straw Polls is a fluke?”
Go Cain! My husband and I are onboard the Cain train.
HEHE
Don’t underestimate Perry!!!
Some are grabbing kleenex. But expect incoming from the “others”
Well, living in New Mexico, I’m sure you’re gonna vote for Perry so he can give benfits to illegals in your State also, that native-born Americans can’t get. Way to go GlockThe Vote; way to go.
The only comment I have is, polls at this point, as well as debates mean nothing!!! This POTUS race has yet to really get started. One thing is evident, quite clearly. Americans are just fed up, sick & tired of politically correct establishment, Democrats, RINOs, progressives, Obama, BS & lies!!! I think candidates like a Palin, a Christie, a Cain, a Santorum, a Gingrich, etc., who tell it like they see it, will get a much better acceptance with folks that want truthful, candid and planned action answers!!!
