Obama Administration to Ban Asthma Inhalers Over Environmental Concerns 3:00 PM, Sep 23, 2011 By MARK HEMINGWAY Single Page Print Larger Text Smaller Text Alerts
Remember how Obama recently waived new ozone regulations at the EPA because they were too costly? Well, it seems that the Obama administration is would rather make people with Asthma cough up money than let them make a surely inconsequential contribution to depleting the ozone layer:
Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government's latest attempt to protect the Earth's atmosphere.
The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.
The action is part of an agreement signed by the U.S. and other nations to stop using substances that deplete the ozone layer, a region in the atmosphere that helps block harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun.
But the switch to a greener inhaler will cost consumers more. Epinephrine inhalers are available via online retailers for around $20, whereas the alternatives, which contain the drug albuterol, range from $30 to $60.
The Atlantic's Megan McArdle, an asthma sufferer, noted a while back that when consumers are forced to deal with environmentally friendly products they're are almost always worse:

Look if you have Asthma or COPD and need a drug in an emergency you will have to go to the Emergency Room now. This drug or inhaler is like most ones that you get from the doctor except it has a gas that blows the Chemical out. This drug is no more dangerous than Symbicort or Combivent all of them have side affects..

This is no worst than the EPA drove the dairy farms out of Western Washington over to Eastern Washington.. They shut down a Puget Power Dam on a lake I live next two. They made it unfeasible for the Plant to operate and make money after they shut down how much water they could divert into the lake for power to save the Salmon! The EPA in the 1980’s also shut down most Mom and Pop Gas Stations when they came out with new regulations to make them change their gas tanks. Most little gas stations couldn’t afford the $150,000 price tag and went out of business. This forced some drivers to drive 50 miles to get gas for their cars!!!

That Primatine Mist tastes awful. I have asthma but I have not had to use an inhaler in a while.

This drug is no more dangerous than Symbicort or Combivent all of them have side affects..Sorry, but you're wrong about that. It's true all of them have side effects, but Primatene would never get approved now because the side effects are worse than newer drugs, and the benefits are less. Inhaled epinephrine is short acting, and on some people has a rebound effect. It raises the heart rate more than newer drugs. It wears off much faster than newer drugs. Combivent is albuterol plus ipatropium, both "rescue" type medicines, but much longer acting than primatene, and with less side effect. Symbicort is a steroid plus formoterol, both "controller" type medications rather than for immediate relief.
The makers of Primatene could reformulate with the HFAs just like albuterol did. There is no indication that they plan to do that, which should tell you something - they don't think Primatene has a future because it's not a good drug.

I remember earlier this year when the EPA panned Coumadin-based rodent bait (except for exterminators — we peons have to hire them to do it). I still bought some at the hardware store long after that, though.
There seems to be a common thread here. For the inhalers, you have to pay the drug companies for a prescription brand, instead of using the cheaper over-the-counter kind. The FDA this time.

Daniel 8:25 also..
Great verse about the antiChrist which seems very much like someone we all know.
Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify [himself] in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Also, these Bible verses very strongly remind me of the one and his ilk:
Isa 10:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, [that] when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
Isa 10:13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done [it], and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant [man]:
Isa 10:14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs [that are] left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

Your full of it! I read where the doctors wanted to control the substance because of the side affects. I take both of those drugs I told you before and the side effects are really bad just like Primatene! primatene wouldn’t get approval because the big drug companies don’t want it on the market! Period.. It is like the codeine drug. You used to be able to buy over the counter aspirin with codeine cough syrup with codeine. But the Federal government had to step in and make you go to the doctor get a prescription have the Pharmacist make it up for you. Lots of people were going to Canada and Mexico to get their drugs instead of here!
To: sometime lurker
I use it as a backup to the albuterol. When nothing else works it gdoes the job. I mostly eschew steroidal medication. people with heart problems should not use it..

Obama Administration to Ban Asthma Inhalers Over Environmental Concerns
I can hardly wait to ban the Obama administration. The incoming administration really will have to work hard to root out at every level folks that Barry and his cronies have planted to advance their agenda in their absence. We don't need a continuing crop of secondary tumors popping up.

I've treated asthmatics who almost died from using Primatene instead of better drugs. Model Krissy Taylor died from using Primatene instead of a better asthma drug. Just because you personally don't get the worst side effects from Primatene, doesn't mean it isn't dangerous. But if you want it, why don't you ask Armstong to reformulate with HFA? They could.
Codeine cough syrup was made prescription because foolish kids were using it to make "goofballs". Overreaction? Yes. They could have done what they did with Sudafed, make you sign for it, but leave it available OTC.

It's later and here's what I found out.
History: The EPA has been regulating particulates since
1971 with their standards evolving over time.
In
1987 the EPA began concentrating on particulates 10 micrometers in diameter and smaller (PM-10), setting daily and annual standards.
In
1997 the EPA added daily and annual standards for fine particulates of 2.5 micrometers and less (PM-2.5).
In
2006 the EPA kept the daily 1987 standard for particulates of 10 micrometers (PM-10) while revoking the annual standard for standard for particulates of 10 micrometers (PM-10). The EPA also revised/tightened the standards for fine particulates.
In
2011 the EPA "is in the midst of a regularly scheduled review [every 5 years] of its national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for particle pollution, also called particulate matter or PM."
The EPA sets daily and annual particulate standards based on particulate size, not particulate type or industry, including agriculture. Each state determines how to meet the standards in a way that makes the most sense for that area.
California and Arizona are two states addressing PM10 from agriculture.
Per the
EPA"Particulate matter, or PM, is the term for particles found in the air, including
dust, dirt, soot, smoke, and liquid droplets".
Per the
EPA dust sources include:
· Construction sites
· Agricultural fields
· Unpaved roads
· Unpaved parking lots
· Disturbed vacant lots
Per the
EPA ways to control dust include:
· Applying gravel, chemical or organic soil stabilizers, or paving over unpaved parking lots and unpaved roads frequently traveled.
· Applying water or other dust suppressants when vacant lots are weeded.
· Applying dust suppressants or revegetating vacant lots disturbed by vehicles or other activities.
· Fencing off or placing barriers on vacant lots to prevent vehicles from trespassing
The
EPA states that all these regulations are required to address health issues caused by particulates.
Lisa Jackson's speech to congress was very carefully crafteded to conceal 'tightening' of particulate standards that, if history is a measure, will result from the current EPA review.
Some of the issues spoken about agriculture stem from the
EPA's ongoing 'negotiations' with Maricopa county regarding particulates. These negotiations seem to go back to at least
2001 and be continued most recently in
2010.
The 'science' behind the EPA's regulation has been strongly
criticized, much like the 'science' behind man-made global warming.

Let me tell you buddy I was rushed to the hospital from the inhaler Combivent so you don’t know what your talking about and I think your a left wing wacko... Big government kind of guy and leave it at that!~
To: sometime lurker; tallyhoe
If you want to talk about side effects, the new HFA inhalers contain a brand new propellant along with new inactive ingredients, leachables, and extractables. None were adequately tested before being approved.
IIRC all but one of the new HFA inhalers contain corn based ethanol. Ethanol is a know trigger for some asthmatics and corn a known allergen.
The switch from CFC to HFA was a purely PC 'green' political decision which conveniently enriched DOW chemical and big pharma. I have met people for whom primetene mist was a perfectly adequate rescue inhaler. OTH I have yet to meet someone who didn't say minimally say that the HFA inhalers just don't work as well. Of course not, among other things per the FDA the deep breath delivers the medication. Ironic eh? Maximally the new HFA inhalers cause asthma attacks.
As to the new PDI's, powdered inhalers, they all contain lactose which contains enough milk proteins to cause allergic reaction in those who are allergic to milk.
And the new HFA's have been deemed to cause 'global warming', so in Europe the push is on to replace the new refrigerants and inhaler propellants. The new new asthma inhalers should be on the market just about when the patents expire on the HFA inhalers.

You will also have to root out all those planted by prior 3+ administrations also. As well totally eliminating 'the fourth branch of government' that bypasses congress via issuing regulations.
