Look if you have Asthma or COPD and need a drug in an emergency you will have to go to the Emergency Room now. This drug or inhaler is like most ones that you get from the doctor except it has a gas that blows the Chemical out. This drug is no more dangerous than Symbicort or Combivent all of them have side affects..
Sorry, but you're wrong about that. It's true all of them have side effects, but Primatene would never get approved now because the side effects are worse than newer drugs, and the benefits are less. Inhaled epinephrine is short acting, and on some people has a rebound effect. It raises the heart rate more than newer drugs. It wears off much faster than newer drugs. Combivent is albuterol plus ipatropium, both "rescue" type medicines, but much longer acting than primatene, and with less side effect. Symbicort is a steroid plus formoterol, both "controller" type medications rather than for immediate relief.
The makers of Primatene could reformulate with the HFAs just like albuterol did. There is no indication that they plan to do that, which should tell you something - they don't think Primatene has a future because it's not a good drug.
