The People's Palin

"Run, Sarah, run!" the Manchester crowd chanted, forcing Palin to pause her speech and say, "I appreciate your encouragement. I do." Will that encouragement be enough to bring Palin into the 2012 campaign as the bearer of the populist banner? The mere possibility is enough to give the "permanent political class" nightmares, and to inspire pleasant dreams for the people whose prayers her campaign would answer.

I don’t follow party labels. I follow policy positions.

I think I’d let the vetting process run its course before any offers to Perry...

Frankly I don’t mind the fact that he was once a Dem, as peoples’ views do occasionally mature and evolve with time. But, yes, do be wary of Perry. I’ve followed him for a dozen years here in Texas, and first and foremost, he’s an absolute, through-and-through “politician” (and that ain’t really meant as a compliment). It would be wise to ignore what he says, and judge him solely on what he’s done. Just my unsolicited advice for FReepers.

Politics isn’t pretty. He may be needed. As hard as that is to swallow. It’s the game we’ve been handed.

I have to say (as a Palin supporter) I find you to be a decent person for someone who supports “the other guy” (that was a joke). A little ribbing from people who support other candidates is a good thing and keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously. I dearly hope Palin ends up in the WH but I’ll support anyone (except Paul or Mitt) who ends up with the nomination. I think people have a tendency to deliberately misunderstand Perry’s borders stance just as they do Palin’s reasons for stepping down. Then again, it’s nice to know we’re all passionate about our country.

"I don’t follow party labels. I follow policy positions."

You are so full of crap! You don't follow "party labels" but you keep talking about Perry being a conservative Democrat until 1988! You could at least be consistent within a thread. If you want to change your position more often than Mitt Romney at least do it on another thread where your flip flops aren't only a short scroll back up the screen.

I call Rick Perry an opportunist, a fake, an Establishment Republican who could kill the Tea Party.

I don’t consider that name calling at all. Those are facts and there are no nice ways to communicate them.

Rick Perry supporters are willing to live with politics as usual and business as usual, which makes them Establishment Republicans.

No one is saying Bush didn’t have strong moments, and no one is calling him scum. Also no one is saying he didn’t care more about our military then maybe in President in history. But he and his buddy Karl Rove really hurt this country with their runaway spending and pandering to illegals.

I won’t argue or disagree about the spending thing. It’s amazing that anybody, even Obama could be more irresponsible, yet he is.

Read the democratic 1988 platform which Perry supported, and we’ll see who’s full of crap.

Sarah’s voice is indeed unmelodious. I suppose it irrelevant to point out that Lincoln’ s voice was high-pitched and nasal. But as a detail, it is a voice that really carries. You could turn the microphone off and her voice would carry for a long way outdoors. And it does not weary the candidate. After the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Douglas voice was quite hoarse. His big baritone was well suited for the Senate, but not so much on the hustlings. Lincoln seemed unbothered.

It's substance and conviction that count the most. She has that and most of her opponents don't. As we saw in the 2008 election, and again in 2010, she is, because of her conviction, an orator like the Republican Party has not seen since Ronald Reagan who is capable of reaching and inspiring millions of people.

The media and her enemies and their supporters will probably attack the pitch of her voice, because they don't have a lot of substance and that's just they way politics as usual works.

People have to get past that. You are playing right into their hands if you don't support someone just because you think they are open to attacks based on irrelevant crticism.

Sarah Palin Running for President This is just what the Democrats want. While you and a majority of Republicans might vote for her, Independents will not vote for her. As such with Palin getting the nomination, the Obama camp gets Trump to run as a 3rd party (Trump is an Obama stooge), and Obama wins reelection with less than 45% of the vote.
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?

I’d love to see her pick a running-mate at the same time she announces, and run as a team.

ME TOO!!! That's what I am dreaming about since a while. That would a GREAT move!
