Steve Forbes: I'm Leaning Toward Perry Endorsement
Newsmax ^ | Aug. 31, 2011 | Jim Meyers and Kathleen Walter

Forbes magazine editor Steve Forbes says he "very impressed" with Texas Gov. Rick Perry and is leaning toward endorsing him for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

"Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, is now the front-runner. He's had a good record even though liberals are now trying to trash it, along with perhaps some of his GOP opponents," Forbes, a two-time presidential candidate, tells Newsmax.

"He did some very good things in reforming their personal injury liability system, very very positive reforms. He encouraged energy production instead of states like California that discourage it, and refused to put in a state income tax. So in the great scheme of things that’s a pretty solid record to run on. So he is the front-runner."

NO.

A fence will not work.

Conservative ascendancy will.

Think.

Isn’t it a tad early for endorsements? All the candidates are not yet in the Race and have not been vetted.

America can't wait to get out from under Obama's rule.

Umm.. my argument has nothing to do with the children. What the hell are you talking about?

I’m talking about human to human. Is the person innocent or guilty of a crime? If guilty, punish them.

Should I be punished for my ancestors being slave owners? This is the left-wing affirmative action position that you and others are taking.

This was before Perry decided to run for President. It’s the immigration equivalent of Romneycare. I really don’t want another pro-illegal person in the white house. 20 years (28 if you count Reagan, but I think he only passed that one law because he thought that would deal with it for good) is enough.

“Quite frankly, it is my daily prayer that the American electorate is not so stupid to repeat its mistake of 2008. The United States (as a republic) CAN survive the chief usurper of the Oval Office, but what the United States of America can NOT survive: an electorate SO stupid to actually give a politician such as Obama - along with the baggage known and unknown - the reigns of government.”

Americans only elected Obama to placate the spoiled minorities and prevent a riot. This time, come Hell or high water, Obama will be thrown out and there are too many Americans starving in the streets for anyone to care about whether or not their homes get burned. Too many have lost homes and don’t have anything to lose. No one knew how bad it would get and stay under Obama and no one (except the majority of us) thought that America’s prestige would end up plummeting the way it would after his election. No one thought that Obama would pull the things he has and no one thought he would act as disgracefully as he has (inviting Beyonce and Jay-Z to sit in the Situation Room) and no one dreamed that a President would blow as much money as he has on his own pleasure and enjoyment. Along wiht that of his wifey. Even Clinton didn’t pull half the stuff that Obama has, or destroy the economy the way he has.

Perry was on with Mark Levin Thursday and was pressed on the DREAM Act and in-state tuition.

Perry flatly opposes the federal DREAM Act which he called amnesty.

He argues its in-state tuition program is right for Texas. He said it allows residents of some states bordering Texas to pay in-state rates, he also said of Texans it requires 3 years Texas residency, graduation from a Texas high school and "be on the path to citizenship" if not citizens.

He says if the young person is willing work and contribute rather than using up services, he or she should be allowed to pay for a college education.

He also mentioned the lack of opposition to in-state tuition in Texas saying, to his recollection only 4 votes against it in the House & Senate. My own check of the legislative logs turned up one vote against in 2001 and no votes opposed in 2005 when it was revised.

I agree with you. I’ve always liked Steve Forbes.

Hope, growth and opportunity.

Not the Obama rope-a-dope hope, but real hope for a greatly expanded free enterprise America.

This isn't even an endorsement. He's just publicly stating that he likes Perry and that he might endorse him in the future.

Is he not allowed to make public statements?

FR is a public forum. Are we allowed to make public statements here?

I guess the difference is that, well, wait... what's the difference again?

Of course we all know Steve Forbes is a rino.
You may very well ask how we know this? Simple he is looking to support a candidate that can actually win the general election!

Talk about selling out!

From my chair, I see a constant flow of Conservatives (Big C, Freepers) trashing the man.

One more thought. in another time I was a Forbes man here on Free Republic. By the time I got a primary vote, it was a lost cause.

This go round I favor Cain for the same reasons and really do like Sarah. By the time I get to vote it will be a Perry/Ronmey contest.

Liberals fall into two categories. They’re either ignorant (uninformed) and misguided or evil and corrupt.

Perry’s work on tort reform is, by itself, almost reason enough to vote for him.
