ST. LOUIS, MO. (KMOX) Theres an alert out about recent assaults on bike riders in south St. Louis.
Trailnet.org, an organization that promotes hiking and biking, is cautioning riders to be on the alert for roving bands of teenagers who swarm and attack riders.
Trailnet says the latest attack was last Thursday (8/25) afternoon near Missouri Botanical Garden where a group of 10 to 15 African-American teens charged and attacked a cyclist.
They werent really interested in robbing me. It just seemed like they wanted to beat me up, says assault victim Cheech Ramirez. They werent interested in letting me get off the ground and having a fair fight.
Ramirez says he and his friends returned to the scene minutes later to help another bicyclist who was being beaten.
Police say there have been other, similar attacks in the city, and they believe all the victims are picked at random.
Mayor Francis Slay is calling for action, possibly with citizen bike patrols set up with the help of Trailnet and local police.
Police urge bike riders to be aware of their surrounding and call 911 when they see a swarm mob preparing an assault.
Not with you here.
By 1999 the democrat controlled house and senate were under immense pressure to pass CCW in Missouri. They punted and left it up to the voters as a ballot issue.
Proposition B in Missouri was a failed 1999 ballot measure, by a very narrow margin. A short interesting read at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missouri_Proposition_B_(1999)
The St Louis Cardinals MLB team kicked in money for the 1999 camplain against CCW.
The legislature later approved similar legislation in 2003.
There is a clause in Missouri CCW law that says "you can't carry CCW at a sporting event where the seating for the crowd is over 5,000". It is my guess that the Cards lobbied big time to get this as part of the law.
I love to watch the St Louis Blues play hockey, but do not expect to call a cab after a night game. Park in the large parking garage next to the rink and stay with the crowd. Of course knowing your route to escape is a must.
Be safe.
LOL
From the video, one would conclude the victim was white.
knock me over with a feather.
“The Obama Effect”
Some Hispanics have lots of Indian blood, and others (generally from the Caribbean) have African blood, but in general, the rest are of European stock, hence, white. Many parts of Latin America had not only Spanish settlers, but Portuguese, Italian, German and even Welsh immigrants.
I’m thinking he would enjoy it more if it was flipped over..........
I love the way the press refers to this as a “game.”
Obviously, when you criticize the press for calling these vicious and deadly assaults a “game”, you are not thinking about the CHILDREN!

She was riding with a group and was taken to the hospital in a bloody mess. Luckily she recovered 100%
No one was ever caught or charged.
Needless to say I am a bit more sensitive than most on this topic.
In the upper escheolons of society there is a predominance of European descent - and the more “white” you appear the better.
Thus many insist, despite black hair, brown eyes, dark skin, and Amerindian features - that they are “white”.
It is a cultural thing - not one of accurate assessment of ancestry.

Doh! I gotcha now, Cheetah! Tis a Monday in all its splendor.
I already know what I will do: speed up as fast as possible and jump my bike up and sideways to take out at least one with the front sprocket and pedals.
"Police say... they believe all the white victims are picked by exclusively black attackers at random."
Latest? Where are reports of any others?
What's the difference between reporting a crime, and promoting creative suggestions to criminals?
Indistinguishable? Or night and day?
They need a guy in a tree with a rifle and a small, nebbishy, hero willing to ride around as bait.
10 or 15 dead “youths” would serve as a warning.
I’m counting on it.
When is the last time you’ve seen a Black Mime?
