I parked my car that has a NOBAMA bumper sticker at a MARTA station in Sandy Springs near Atlanta Georgia for two days. After my return, the whole car was scratched with keys on all sides. It will now cost me $2,500 to repair the car. Worse, there is no way to catch the criminals and punish them. And, now, I am really scared and worried to express my opinion through bumper stickers, fearing another costly damage.
Did anyone experience similar problems? What recourse do you suggest?
What was that Bruce Willis movie where he played a sociopath set on killing the President? He rigged his vehicle with a toxic chemical that anyone touching it would immediately seize up and die.I didn’t see any stickers on the vehicle but you get the idea...
A transit station?
My lord, you are brave!~/
For all I know that happens to my truck all the time, I just can't tell.
Ah yes talk the PD in making a local “bait car” with bumper stickers to catch the vandals...Make the perps TV stars.
If we were taking bets on who ended up on that video camera, I know where I would put my money.
Have your car insurance company contact MARTA and demand to see the tapes. Then have them file a claim against MARTA, if possible, and a police report against the miscreants.
As for bumper stickers, I think we’re reaching a point where there is too much lawlessness to take a chance on expressing yourself that way.
The first thing you should have done is gone back to the station and picked up one of the "emergency service/security" phones. You should call both MARTA's police, and the Sandy Springs police and get reports filed.
There is surveilance video from that parking lot. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get them to look at it.
Installing your own motion activated camera(s) and digital recorder in your car might be a good idea as well.
If it were me, I'd "repair" all the damage by wallpapering the car with more NOBAMA stickers, along with some Palin stickers, TEA Party stickers, Gadsden flags, christian symbols and anything else you can find. That's just me.
I might even consider going to one of those vehicle wrap companies and getting it wrapped with campaign signage for your favorite candidate(s).
Got a passenger window shot out with a pellet gun one night while I was asleep. I have no doubt it was due to my Nobama bumper sticker. I guess I got off lucky.
Park at a private lot next time.
I’d leave it that way (with the scratches) and put on another sticker saying “This is what liberals do to people who don’t agree with them”... Or “Obama followers love keying cars”... I’m sure someone here can actually come up with a witty slogan you could use.
Wasn't she married to Rush Limbaugh?
Just got my GTFO sticker that has the “O” as that silly communist circular flag that is the zero logo. I have it on the back window of my truck and expect that some liberal free speech pansy will be offended to the point of causing damage to my vehicle. I weighed the odds and decided to express my opinion regardless. I now exercise my second amendment right more than before since I live in the midst of a ghetto/liberal utopia.
(rofl) yes, i do. Moving (racial group) rapidly through atlanta. humor dates back to the carter years...
Don’t put them on your car. I used to have an anti-War on Drugs sticker on my car and I think a couple of cops in NYC keyed it while I was there.
You’ve hit upon a very good idea here. Make sure your bumper stickers are above the intelligence of the creeps and you’ve still expressed yourself to those who have some understanding of the issues and encouraged those who agree with you.
Probably because by the time they get home and find someone who can look up the name on the internet for them, they keep thinking that it was "John Glat or something like that". LOL!
Be sure to remove the backseats. That will lead them to believe you are quite tall ~ or a police deal of some kind.
No, it's called vandalism, and it's wrong no matter who does it. Now, if you knew for a fact that the people who keyed your car owned the vehicle in question, then you would be justified in keying it.
Could have been worse. Think what would have happened if you had parked it at Hightower or Bankhead station. But seriously, I usually park at North Springs, so I hate to hear that this happened to your car. I do know that MARTA has surveillance cameras, so I would hound them until they release the video. It may take police dept pressure, but the Sandy Springs PD is pretty good about that.
