I hope not. Isabel wasn’t as big and it caused widespread power outages, loss of property and some lives.

Watching a NOAA update. He just drew a line of the thing headed out to sea towards New England. Doesn’t look like it is going to hit New York directly anymore.I would think that is a good thing since the right quadrant will not be over NY or Long Island. Did I catch that report right?

Here in CT, the initial number of power outages increases due to overloading on the remaining systems and the need to shut down larger areas for repair.

Good point. I'm sure that's the case here as well.

Outages now up to 648,341 / 2,442,740.

Good luck my FRind. My sis lives in Ocean City NJ. Her place is right on the bay.

Reports that the bay and the ocean are going to meet somewhere in the middle of the city.

Fox News just said that this storm has set a record for the number of people having to be evacuated.... more proof of just how huge this storm is!

It's a big storm, but that could also indicate an over-reaction by the authorities.

Just saw the 5:00 PM update. Looks like now it will barely be a Cat one or a TS by the time it hits NYC. What will that do to the tone of reports?

I wonder if the MSM already has people lined up to say “President Bush doesn't care about...oops.” With the MSM’s template on Hurricane's aftermath coverage being set by Katrina, how will they now handle it when they have a President they can't blame.

Good afternoon. Ditto, Mike.

I've been following this thread. I'm adding my prayers for all those in Irene's path. Take care.

It won't help. Remember the media pretending that he personally gunned down Bin Laden?

You are basically correct.

However, inland is often covered with rivers - and yes, there is alot of flooding in many places. Oops, forgot to mention - once again, it’s not JUST wind. It’s rain, too.

As for “breaks trees” - exactly - ruining power, destroying houses and cars, and killing people.

This is not a cakewalk.

You know it'll be all about how our brave President personally took charge of all Federal relief efforts, even though we all know he couldn't take charge of a lemonade stand.

He’s a little late to the game. Everyone knows he was on the golf course last week while the state, county and local leaders were doing the disaster planning. Which is how it should have went down for Katrina.

It will be all of the great things he did. He cut his golf game off a day short for pete’s sake. The Obama has it all under control.

This is only August, the worst storms usually come in around September.
