Obama's Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack: "Well, obviously, it's putting people to work. Which is why we're going to have some interesting things in the course of the forum this morning.
Later this morning, we're going have a press conference with Secretary Mavis and Secretary Chu to announce something that's never happened in this country -- something that we think is exciting in terms of job growth.
I should point out, when you talk about the SNAP program or the foot stamp program, you have to recognize that it's also an economic stimulus.
Every dollar of SNAP benefits generates $1.84 in the economy in terms of economic activity.

What is funny to me is that the idea they are preaching is really Reaganomics. Give folks more money to spend and the economy will be stimulated. They just refuse to allow people to keep their own money by lowering taxes. Instead they want to dole it out to whoever they can buy a vote from. Take a dollar out of the economy and then give it to someone else to put back into the economy while the government loses some to inefficieny and graft.
No
Pictures of Helen Would do wonders to prevent Rape, and all sexual crimes.
Make the pervert view photos of Helen and keep them close by when he has the urge.
Vilseck is a complete idiot but lets give him a break: he is not the only one. This is just nutty Keynesianism at its best, complete with a phony multiplier.
If food stamps stimulate the economy, why not give them to everyone in the country? Why not everyone in the world? A reductio ad absurdum of this policy is so brief and short, that one should realize that this policy is insanity from the very beginning.
And why stop with food? How about housing stamps? That will out the construction industry to work. Then clothing stamps. Then vacation-travel stamps. Then automobile-ownership stamps.
There is enough material out there that they must be licking their chops.
We should get some real good ads for 2012. . .
That is doubleplusgood.
Is that rape rape or just rape like Whoopi defended Roman Polanski of committing?
Food stamps are and always were issued by the Dept of Agriculture as a farm subsidy.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Many in or near Iowa refer to him as VilSackOCrap. The way Iowans tend to vote it lends credence to the phrase that IOWA = Idiots Out Wandering Around.
The Keynesian dead-enders stuggle on.
How long before they tell us that being on welfare is employment?

Hmmm, only thing i can think of that has never happened would be a TRUE SPENDING CUTTTTT!
Later this morning, we’re going have a press conference with Secretary Mavis and Secretary Chu to announce something that’s never happened in this country — something that we think is exciting in terms of job growth.
You can take the Vilsack out of Pittsburgh, but you can’t take the Pittsburgh union-shop economic thinking out of the Vilsack.
In their super-simplified Keynsian fantasies, all Gov’t spending is “stimulus.”
In fact, the multiplier effect of Gov’t spending is limited, and I believe that given the present massive size of Gov’t, the marginal-utility of each extra dollar of spending is now negative.
Food stamps stimulates a thought in my mind that they may be abuse by folks who probably shouldn’t have them, and stimulates me to give more to local food pantries, and stimulates my thought that FEWER food stamps, and less demand for food stamps should be the goal, not to hand out MORE food stamps.
By George (Orwell) I think you've got it!
Welcome to the Obamanation!
THese people are simply mind-bending.
You’re dead right! If food stamps stimulate the economy, by extension the economy would reach maximum stimulus when all Americans are on food stamps.
ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH this Administration is composed of complete f***ing fools.
If you told somebody 35 years ago half of this crap they would not believe it. You can’t make this crap up. Oh and don’t forget Obama had a budget plan but Boehner said no. WE REALLY need someone to unelect him out PERIOD no games no crap clean it all out.Get all of the dems out and most of the republicans and a new President.
