More votes for Perry than Palin in Iowa Straw Poll

Posted on 08/13/2011 5:35:56 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear

Rick Perry who just announced his candidacy received more votes than Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

How much longer can Palin just drive around the country not doing much of anything and still expect to run for POTUS?

A potential candidate without the organization to even manage 100 write in votes looks really really bad.

Mexico should be able to end poverty in their country without our border being a casualty.

"Sarah was there in person..."

She was in East Des Moines at the Iowa State Fair. The Ames Straw Poll is in Ames, Iowa, 30+ miles north in another county.

Well, if she had been running in the poll and won, I would have been disappointed if all she won by only 152 votes more than a loon case like Paul. LOL

Unlike Bachmann-Rollins, I think I would have been embarrassed.

I agree with you. Thought maybe there would be some insightful discussions today. Again, my single-cell brain was wrong.

If Sarah doesnt run, this long time Sarah supporter will be able to manage, don’t worry. I predict she will but if she doesnt, what exactly have I lost? I never pretended to be Dick Morris.
I want Sarah to run, I have supported her PAC for 2+ years, but I know if she runs, she will give up a lot and for no guarantees and pure venom from 35% of Americans, many who probably want her dead, so i cant be mad at her if she declines, but 98% sure she is in

You sound worried. Buck up, Bear. Palin won’t let you down.

There was no dishonesty involved. You stand in a line and get handed a ticket at any tent. There were stacks and stacks of tickets left all over the grounds everywhere you went. Organizations not affiliated with candidates also gave out complimentary tickets. I obviously couldn’t have voted for the NRA. My ticket was numbered over 39,000 and only 16,000 voted. I had a HUCKPac sticker on my shirt and the guy who gave me a ticket said, I hope you aren’t voting for Huck and then laughed.

I guess it would be dishonest to accept any flier or sticker from any candidate I don’t intend to vote for?

Get over yourself.

Hey Fellow FReepers, let’s not forget who our REAL enemy is: Obozo the Marxist, and his fellow socialists in Congress.

I happen to be supporting Gov. Perry but I have respect for the views of other FReepers who support any of the other candidates,(well, maybe Ron Paul is an exception)because as has often been said, anyone of our candidates is 100 times better than Obama.

Why bother? Why spend the money? Palin doesn’t give a rat’s behind about the Iowa Straw Poll. She’s certainly not going to support an endeavor that puts money into GOP coffers.

"Why is Palin just riding around the country is a bus instead of working to be elected?"

Perhaps because what she is doing now bring in more $$$ by raising her profile. She does not need an actual campaign apparatus to achieve that.

AND all of THAT, is one reason that would make me crawl a mile over broken glass to vote for her.

Palin 2012... there is no other reasonable choice.

"So what you’re saying is—Perry, who organized for votes, was able to get more than Palin who didn’t?"

Except Palin fans are telling us they have an organization & it's really awesome... sort of like Obama's budget.

I talked to some Ron Paul supporters who said they rode in on a bus with 3 people on it. This was not the “green” way to do it.

Organized or not, I would think that most people in Iowa have a tv, computer or radio and know who Sarah Palin is, and that she would have some supporters there. Not even 35? Something is just wrong with that.

lol, there goes your credibility

Perry got some votes because he has announced and Palin has not.

That means you were dishonest, giving the impression you will vote for that candidate and you didn’t.

That's not true. There would be no blank to 'write in' a name for someone else if you were EXPECTED to vote for the person you got the ticket from.
