I’m surprised that so many people seem surprised by S&P’s decision. Weren’t people paying attention over the last year or so when we were getting warning after warning from various credit rating agencies that this was coming? I’ve been writing and speaking about it myself for quite some time.

I certainly agree. But having well-written essays like this one in her back pocket when she does announce (and she had better!) add to her resume and make it harder to silence her with the typical liberal claims of "lightweight," etc.

You apparently missed her line about reevaluating entitlements. I believe SS and Medicare qualify. But then some people can’t connect dots in front of them and flashing neon.

We need more visibility and more Republican bills...NOW!!!
What I mean is, sure CC&B/Balanced Budget amendment was defeated, but I don’t see any new tax cutting bills proposed and put to the floor...force the Dems to vote them down!!! Be the heros. Put another version of BBA to the floor. Do it now!!!
Get in front of the cameras with this stuff...at this point, the pitchforks are out and I don’t think the American public would be against such things. What the HECK is our side doing except hoping to defeat Obama and the Dems in the Senate next November. Can we survive until then?
I saw it. "Reevaluating entitlements" is an even weaker line that we usually get from politicians who use "Reform entitlements". This is a straight talker? Ok.

Personal problems? People who build up a cult of personality around politicians have personal problems.
Myself, as a sane conservative, am always skeptical and critical of politicians.
Sarah Palin isn't your mother, she isn't your sister, your aunt or your friend. She's someone who may be seeking the most powerful position on the planet. She deserves nothing but skepticism like any other who would seek a position of power.

She is the outsider we need to help clean up the mess in Washington.
