Virginia Tech Alert claims person with a gun spotted near Dietrick Dining Hall.

Tech asking people on campus to stay inside, secure doors.

Police conducting search now.

This emotional, irrational response to the possible presence of a man with a gun has gone to the moonbat stage.

Shut down an entire campus for hours on the possibility that someone might have seen someone with a gun? Irrational and crazy.

I believe that the Virginal Attorney General just ruled that Virginia public universities could not legally prevent people who could legally carry a gun from carrying it on campus.

It wasn’t reported by students. Kids at a camp. We have tons of camps during the summer. Students are locked in their classroom. No one can get in.

They should check the gun range just outside town. Maybe he was going target shooting.

After reading the libs for the last couple of weeks I was gonna put my money on it being a hoax as soon as they quickly put out a description of a “white male.” They should hunt down the caller and interogate them for suspicious behavior of being a liberal moonbat with a crazy racialist agenda.

Yep. This same thing happened at Roanoke Mall a few months back. Turned out to be an umbrella. People around here are jumpy.

They have nothing to worry about. VT policy forbids firearms on campus doesn't it? I'm sure everyone there is totally safe because of this policy.

Every kid has a cell phone these days and with a little forethought and one call, they can shut down an entire campus.

And one of them could have taken a picture with their cell phone. I can't believe that out of any three random kids picked off the streets these days, at least one of them doesn't have a cell phone with a camera in it.

I teach on a campus in southern Florida. I have given up saying a friendly “hello” or “good morning” to students passing me on the walk because they are not even looking at you... they have their eyes buried in their electronic gizmos (including the ones who, if you are not watchful, will walk into you).

I was sure the FED guys at the end of the movie E.T. were holding pistols when I saw that movie in the early 80s, but apparently, my eyes lied -- they are holding cellphones, according to the most current release of the movie.

Are there tennis courts near the volleyball courts? Could be he was carrying a tennis racket under the towel?
