Fiscal Conservatives Barred from Supercommittee
The Weekly Standard ^ | 08/02/2011 | STEPHEN F. HAYES

The debt ceiling deal will pass the Senate early this afternoon. No suspense there. But the vote will be worth watching for another reason: Three Republican Senate sources tell TWS that senators who vote against the deal will be ineligible to serve on the so-called “supercommittee” for deficit reduction that the legislation creates

I’m hanging out at a forum where there are a lot of Libertarians. They are having a $hit fit about this.

The "supercommittee" idea was what had me opposed to the bill from the start.

Proposing a committee is always a dodge created by those who haven't the intelligence or courage to take a stand.

Here’s what I’m wondering.

The Super Congress is clearly of dubious Constitutionality at best. What happens if the Libs who are all torked-off about this deal decide to sue? I think there is a better than even chance that the SCOTUS might eventually agree with them. So where would that leave us?

"Picking a Gang of Six member – or supporter – would further antagonize conservatives skeptical of the debt ceiling deal."

How can anyone be surprised by this? Really?

Remember Scozzafava, Castle and Murkowski?

The preference for Hensarling (WHO THE HELL IS HENSARLING?!?) over Bachmann?

How can anyone be surprised?

The GOP is not your friend. The Republican and Democrat Show is a good cop versus bad cop carnival act where they both work the crowd and pass the hat at the end of the show. They work together, eat together, sleep together and live together. They are not adversaries. They are accomplices. YOU are the marks.

Keep playing their game by their rules and you will keep losing to the house.

This story makes so little sense that I’m not buying it.

You are correct.

The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.

I like to watch the cable series “A 1000 ways to die” on Spike TV. I have seen how the leftist liberals influence the production of stories.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1000 Ways to Die

1000 Ways to Die is a docufiction television series that premiered on May 14, 2008 on Spike. The program recreates unusual supposed deaths and debunked urban legends[1] and includes interviews with experts who describe the science behind each death. Up until the end of season one, the final story of each episode showed actual footage of dangerous situations that almost ended in death, along with interviews with people involved in the situations. A portion of these deaths have been nominated for or have received a Darwin Award.

I have been looking for confirmation other than TWS. So far, all I’ve found is additional commentary.

IIRC, the TARP plan was loans, all of which have been paid back. That I can deal with, albeit with trepidation.

$26T in increased spending over 10 years? with no apparent plan to increase revenue? Not so much.

IT IS TIME FOR A 3rd PARTY - IT WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF CYCLES (Not sure we have that much time).

We don't have enough time. Much quicker and easier to simply hunt the RINOs.

TARP was a big slush fund (and the banks often repaid by borrowing from the Fed).

As DocZero tweeted: The gov’t has borrowed more money since Friday than the “compromise” bill will cut this year.

WHAT? This whole multi-trillion-dollar debt/spending issue is being handled as an amendment to the "Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002", the entire text of which is
Section 174(e)(1)(A) of the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002 (20 U.S.C. 9564(e)(1)(A)) is amended by inserting `, subject to 1 extension of not more than 12 months, at the Secretary's discretion, for any contract in effect on, or entered into after, January 1, 2011' after `period'.
This, may I say with as much gravitas as I can muster, is insane.

The claims being make by some “conservative” that this deal means the “end of the Bush tax cuts” is false.

Since those tax cuts are all ready scheduled to end, they cannot be counted by the “Super Committee” as part of their deficit reduction package.

Freeper interested in real facts, instead of merely looking at this bill as excuse to push their 3rd party dogmas, should read the attached link.

At this point, congress doesn’t have to do jack squat for taxes to go up and for the debt to increase.

Obamacare is still on track, the Bush tax cuts expire in a few short months, and NOTHING was cut from the budget!

ANYTHING they pass from this point forward is totally MOOT!
