I was raised in southwest Oklahoma and left in ‘71. We were in the middle of one of those droughts then and I remember how bad it was for the farmers, which is just about all we had other than the Air Force base.
At least out here we have more industry and they really don’t know what a drought is, but my lawn could sure use a drink (come to think of it, so could I).
Will pray for all of you in the Southwest and hope you get some relief.
I wonder how many millions or billions in losses the farmers and ranchers have already incurred? Or would that be insurance companies?
It’s just now getting into high hurricane season.
We could use some rain here in mid-MO...
Indeed, I hate to wish a hurricane on anyone, but if it would bring rain to west Texas, I might have to make an exception!
Gasoline back to more than $4.00 a gallon with every little TD anywhere near Louisiana.

No, we are not picky right now. Lake Travis is right at 50% capacity and every city around here draws water from it, so it is getting critical. We have been under a burn ban for months.
Dittos on that.
This is the storm I was telling you about last week! You don’t know how hard I’ve been praying, staring at Don right as he was born and visualizing his rain up and over from my laptop screen out the window to our dying lake.
Praise You Lord! You haven’t forgotten Texas!
I am buying a case of Champagne for my neighbors and I and we will quit slurping when it stops raining!
AMEN to that!

Updating your headline accordingly and calling in the Hurricane hostess.
Gulf Weather System Nearly Certain To Become A Tropical Cyclone

Shell, one of the largest producers in the Gulf of Mexico, said it has evacuated some non-essential personnel from its southwest operations due to the threat of a possible storm.
The company said it evacuated about 70 people and that production isn’t affected. Evacuation started Tuesday and continued Wednesday, the company said.
“These personnel are not essential to core producing,” the company said.
Shell said it began securing operations on the Perdido platform, which it operates in partnership with Chevron and BP. About 200 miles south of Galveston, Texas, in about 8,000 feet of water, the Perdido platform is the world’s deepest drilling and production platform. Its peak production is the equivalent of about 100,000 barrels of oil per day.
Shell also said it is securing operations on the Noble Danny Adkins, a deep-water drill ship it is leasing from Noble which is working in the vicinity of the Perdido platform. Noble spokesman John Breed said the company isn’t evacuating workers from the rig but is “securing operations” aboard the ship.
Other major Gulf of Mexico producers BP, Chevron and ConocoPhillips said Wednesday they are monitoring the weather and developing plans should it threaten their operations.

Our congregation has had prayers for rain for several months. Everyone I know has been praying for rain in Texas.
If it stays as forecasted then it will be a blessing to any part of Texas that gets it as we all need rain. The winds appear to be less than Hurricane strength if it goes as predicted.
Looks like it’s headed right for Ron Paul’s district.
WooHoo come on blue line, that’s right over my house. Hope it rains enough to drown the grasshoppers!
I’m sitting here in incredulity.
There’s a TD that’s formed in the Gulf. How long before it might become a hurricane? Who knows.
Where are the models expecting it to hit? Most likely, Texas. Texas, where the weather has been unseasonably warm since May.
I live in the Pacific Northwest...the ONLY part of the country to have cooler and wetter than normal weather for this summer.
On Saturday, my wife and I are going on vacation. Our kids are already at the place where we’re going. Anyone care to guess WHERE they are and WHERE we’re going?
You got it. TEXAS. About 45 miles north of Houston. And it looks like one of those forecast tracks is taking it right over the top of where my in-law’s place is.
I was looking forward to escaping the rain. I can’t win for losing.
