I just received an email from World Net Daily advertising some books. Not unusual, as I'm on their list, and they send ads all the time. What is strange though, is the fact that all the books in this ad are religious AND take the oddball "7th-day Sabbath" position--definitely a very minority position among conservative evangelicals, and Christians of all stripes.
The ad also hints at some dark conspiracy amidst conventional Christians, accusing us of not reading the bible carefully.
Some evangelical apologists too categorize Adventism (which started with those who firmly predicted Jesus to come again in the 1840s) itself is at least an eccentric sect, following Old Testament and extra-biblical regulations, if not a cult, not unlike many others that got founded about that time.
Is World Net Daily now officially Adventist?
I work in an Adventist organization and although I am not very familiar with the religion, those I know who practice it are the nicest, most moral and upright folks I’ve come across in a long time.
For that matter, since it appears that the definition of cult appears to be connected to keeping commandments and having faith in a man, let’s call Judaism a cult too.
:)
Any story of man’s origin is going to be an article of faith, since there are no eyewitnesses and no film.
Have you had a chance to attend the child sacrifice ceremony yet?
It’s awesome!
The Church moved the Sabbath to Sunday in anticipation of the NFL.
***There is but one church, Jesus Christ. There is but one way to heaven, Jesus Christ.****
According to the bald SDA preacher on Amazing Facts, “You are saved by GRACE, IF YOU KEEP THE SABATH!”
I heard this on his program several years ago. What heresy!
Excellent proof of God's foreknowledge!
Well, a commandment is a commandment. God did not put any emphasis on any of them. To God all the commandments are the same.
Can I be saved, if I am an unrepentent murderer?
***SDAs are not a cult. Most believe in the Triune God and that Christ is fully man and fully God.***
Two little boys wonder away from home one saturday when a rainstorm broke. They went up to FIVE SDA homes to ask for help and were rebuffed each time till they came to my door.
It was a Sabbath and the SDA people would not lift a finger to help these children.
I was once visited at my place of business by a contentious elderly man who was an Adventist telling me I shouldn’t eat meat (I owned a deli) and that I should not work on Sat. He showed me the commandment concerning keeping the Sabbath. I pointed out that commandment also states “Thou shalt work 6 days...”. He was retired and didn’t work at all. He was breaking that very commandment.

We got a bunch around here and some are the most arrogant, self rigteous people I have ever met.
And hence lies your problem. They were invalidated at the Cross. You're adding to the Scriptures something that isn't there. The Commandments were never written on the heart of Adam. He and Eve were under the Dispensation of Innocence. The Laws weren't necessary. Sure they were written on stone in the Dispensation of Law, but they were not necessarily written on the heart of man during current Dispensation, Grace.
The Law is powerless to do what Christ did on the Cross. Grace is imparted to us because we believe on Christ. We don't need "the Law."
There are rocks and bones and tools.
But your point is valid, if you go back far enough at some point how things got started is an article of faith.
BTW, even Darwin avoided that question, his book 'On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life' specifically does not address the origin of life itself, only how existing lifeforms adapt to their changing environments over time.
Science addresses how something happens/happened. Religion addresses why...

E G White did! Remember her “vision” in which she saw the 10 commandments with the Sabath Day one glowing!
What Must I do to be Saved?
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved!”-St Paul
“By GRACE ye are saved, through faith, not of your own doing. It is the gift of God!”-St Paul
“You are saved by Grace IF you keep the Sabbath”—Amazing Facts SDA teaching.
I’ll go with St Paul.
Then they failed to heed Christ’s application for keeping it when he advocated lifting an ox out of a hole on the Sabbath.
A bad application of God’s principles does not nullify God’s principles and I’m sorry those young lads did not get the best experience.
However, speaking of bad application, I do have a problem with how Evangelicals apply the law of grace.
***I was once visited at my place of business by a contentious elderly man who was an Adventist telling me I shouldnt eat meat...***
My mom told of an incident where she worked at a local hospital. One of the workers was an SDA who wore his SDAism like a badge of honor.
When they went to the cafeteria to eat, he would get in line, snerle his nose and start...”You got any of that old PIG! I don’t want any of that OLD PIG”(said in a tone throwing lots of spittle)!
One day one of the attendents opened a bedding closet and there he was, chowing down on a pork chop some patient decided not to eat.
Name any faith (including Atheism) that doesn't have a bunch like that.
WND went off the rails and into the nut-case weeds a LONG time ago. I don’t understand why many here at FR still didn’t (or still don’t) pick up on it.
In Isaiah and Revelation, it is clear that we’ll be keeping the Sabbath again. It seems to me that if a commandment is valid before the fall, is validated during our fallen state and is also validated after we are fully redeemed,...,it was never suspended.
I will also go with the Bible above anything else as well.
However, as I understand it, the reason why the Sabbath is so emphasized within my church is because it has been so forgotten by the general church community.
Keeping the Sabbath will not save me, but living God’s commandments makes me free.
