Perry's credentials: As conservative as they come
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | July 17, 2011 | Chris Tomlinson

If Texas Gov. Rick Perry runs for president, he'd bring along strong conservative credentials.

He's advocated laws that require a sonogram before an abortion and that force police to enforce federal immigration law.

...what better time to say....I am running for President

That would be timing of the worst sort, imo. He needs to keep politics totally out of this event.

NO...you seem to be the person with those tendencies...first statement to slam Perry was once a dem...find me an older Texan that wasn’t once a dem...changing to the party that represented his ideals once the party stopped representing the average American are outstanding credentials.

That was my thinking too....however, it seemed to be dropped into my spirit...if he announced before the prayer vigil...holding the vigil would be seen in a negative manner...he must announce at least a week before the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa...that was Grassley’s advise to him.

On the surface what I have seen appears to be an excellent resume to consider Rick Perry for President of the USA. However, he served under Pres George Bush and continues afterward as Texas gov. Meaning that he might be more of a Bush Texas Gentle Man than the street fighter conservative this country has to elect or it will become a nation of slaves to those world powers who have put Obama in office. I will continue to watch Perry and listen to him but he has a lot to prove that he is up to the job of whatever it takes to get our Republic back on track. No more compassion for the lefties who are bent on destroying this nation, destroy them politically and cut off their blank check to the US treasury.

I'm not 'blaming' Palin for her support of anyone, but I am recognizing that she will say things that don't necessarily comport with her self-proclaimed 'rogue' style, or with staunch conservatism.

Why is that so hard for Palin devotees to handle? It never seems to be enough that I would vote for her, but fall short of falling into her orbit.

No, you’re paranoid.

Saying someone used to be a democrat isn’t a slam. You yourself mentioned Reagan. So, you’re wrong. It wasn’t a slam, it was a detail attached to Perry.

Are you a Paultard?

All this “oooh, but Palin endorsed Perry” is making a mountain out of a mole hill. Yes, back in 2009 she endorsed the GOP candidate Perry for his re-election as governor of conservative Texas. Big whoop. Who the heck do you think she was going to endorse, RAT KBH???

I look at all the Conservatives who won election in 2010, most in large part because of Palin’s endorsement. Yet, you are focused on John McCain. I will make the point again, Hayworth had his flaws as a candidate too.

For whatever reason, you’re taking one endorsement and blowing it up as the major endorsement, which tells me you have an agenda against Palin.

I supported McCain in 2008. Does that also mean my principles are the same as John McCain’s?

Perry endorsed Giuliani. DeMint endorsed Romney. Bachmann normally won’t endorse anyone (including JD Hayworth). I have little knowledge who Cain endorsed, other than the original TARP. Romney, well, who cares who Romney endorsed.

Point being, you are not going to find the perfect candidate. The best you can hope for is a candidate who supports most Conservative values. I still see only one who leads in those regards. Should she not run, I could potentially settle for a couple of others.

"AND YET YOU WANTED HER TO STAB THE MAN WHO MADE ALL THIS POSSIBLE IN THE BACK!"

There is a lot of room between not campaigning for McCain and 'stabbing him in the back', as you keep writing. There are many things that can be said of McCain that are short of he is a fine conservative. That is just plain untrue.

I question people who say things that are untrue, and that is only fair. Makes me think about what else they might be saying that is not true. Pure and simple.

You are performing a bunch of mental gymnastics to explain Palin's politics and her actions, all of it unnecessary.

HA HA HA....here's my list. #1 is Palin, #2 is Perry, #3 is Bachmann...

Since, I live in the same area of Texas as Ron Paul...and have literally watched him since he entered politics...Ron Paul HAS ALWAYS BEEN A NUTTER. You'd have thought after all these years, he'd have mellowed...he hasn't he is still a NUTTER. I would NEVER EVER VOTE FOR PAUL...

Paul isn't running for re-election because of the new re-districting. He had 8 or 9 counties with re-districting he now only has 3 counties in his district. So what others couldn't do to unseat him...Texas Republicans in Austin...did it for us. HA

She could have stayed out of it and endorsed nobody at all if it is true that Perry is “as RINO as they come”, as was stated. That would mean that Perry was no more conservative than KBH, therefore no endorsement at all would have been a choice. She was under no obligation to be involved as far as I know.

I think you misunderstood what I meant — I suppose I wasn’t as clear.

My point was exactly what you were trying to say, that the Palin-worshippers want to have it both ways.

I like Sarah and if she runs, I most likely would vote for her, especially if Perry doesn’t run — but I look at all candidates realistically, nobody is perfect.

It is unfortunate that for some it becomes a cult of personality, instead of a rational assessment of the candidates.

I have read enough on Rick Perry to persuade me he is not someone I will support. Lots of baggage and in his tenure as Governor or Texas he has more than doubled the state debt to a record $217 Billion: http://www.usdebtclock.org/state-debt-clocks/state-of-texas-debt-clock.html
I find him another phony Conservative like Bush.

(this cannot be confirmed - one would have to assume that voters need to be told for whom they should vote - I don't think that's so)

--------------

For whatever reason, you’re taking one endorsement and blowing it up as the major endorsement,

(For whatever reason? Read the thread - I replied to a comment about her McCain endorsement.)

------------

I supported McCain in 2008. Does that also mean my principles are the same as John McCain’s?

(If you had a more conservative option but still supported him then my guess would be yes, absolutely.)

’ I think Perry on Mexico is not as interesting - nor as important - as Perry on globalism , or, transnationalism......does he have any ties to George Soros?’

Are you implying that there are Perry/Soros connections?
Your link might connect Mr. Soros with the Trans Texas Highway/North American Union, and hence, Mr. Perry.
If Mr. Perry is a RepublicoSoros, are there any more connections?

That is not now, nor has there ever been a conservative democrat. They talk conservative when they demand a compromise, then go right back to their roots.

Zell could have changed parties and made a difference, but he didn’t.

There were many more or less conservatives trapped in the Roosevelt aura. Where I was born and raised you didn’t register as a Republican, or you never got to vote in a primary. I did register as a republican to the eternal dismay of my mother who never forgave me. Strangely she did however admire Reagan, maybe even voted for him.
