(Washington, DC) -- Republican congressional leaders are reportedly agreeing to billions of dollars in revenue increases as federal deficit discussions continue.
Republican Senator Jon Kyl announced the move today saying revenue increases don't necessarily mean tax hikes.
On the Senate floor Kyl said, quote, "If the government sells something and gets revenue from it, that's revenue."
He also suggested user fees for government services could provide additional revenue.
He says all the revenue increases Republicans have agreed to amount to between 150 billion and 200 billion dollars.
Knee jerk whining is counter productive
A proposed revenue increase is the end to the ethanol subsidy and green energy project waste
I’m not going to be baited into attacking Palin on this thread by you.
You were the one who introduced Palin into this conversation.
I merely made a remark comparing conservatives who agitate for candidates on the basis of their sex to liberals who agitate for candidates on the basis of their race. The comparison is true, and both types of individuals are nothing more than idiots and {race,sex,etc.}-baiters.
Many folks here forget that some national parks are national battlefields carefully hidden away from commercial development.
Some are unlikely to survive without Federal support.

Although golden eagles are gorgeous birds, the artist should have drawn a Bald Eagle!
Taxes are not “revenue”.
Taxes are confiscation.
If the GOP were to say, "You want more revenue? Let's talk about ending the tax-subsidies to GE or the "green" charlatans," I would applaud their efforts.
That's a mighty big "if", Sen. Kyl. You're in the negotiations. Is somebody proposing that? Have you proposed that?
He also suggested user fees for government services could provide additional revenue.
What happens if someone "can't afford" to pay the user fees? Oh, I know. We charge the people who CAN afford to pay the user fees whether they use the government service or not.
Yo, Sen. Jon. Check this out. If you guys raise taxes one iota, you're going to lose your election anyways.
So I say roll the dice. Standing up to RATS instead of stepping on The People just might win you re-election. It's worth a try don't you think?
How is this different from what both Ryan and the “Deficit Commission” plans are? Ryan proposed eliminating some loopholes and lowering rates and it scored an increase in revenue. Ditto for the commission.
“No problem with closing some loopholes or selling some things but if these asshats think they are going to raise taxes and not pay for that at the polls....”
How do you feel about changing the law so that the hedge fund managers’ earnings are taxed like ordinary income, instead of as capital gains, so that they are taxed at a 15% rate instead of 35%? I was reading that one of them made $4.5 billion last year. I think he should pay taxes at the same rates I do.
Good for you. Integrity.
We share the same take on it. I agree with you. Boehner is a big fat zero in my book.
Hell, Bachmann has more b—ls than he does.
We need a woman in there to clean up the mess.
Wasn’t that Hillary Clinton’s line?
LMAO
Yep, our clowns sound just like their clowns.
Boehner and the House should not be negotiating with Obama over the budget. They should be demanding to negotiate with Senate Democrats via the Budget Reconciliation process between the House and Senate.
Only after the House and Senate agree on a budget bill should the bring in Obama.

I never had the opportunity to vote for someone based on sex... ;^( Oh wait...
...based on their sex. Why would I vote for someone or not based on whether they were getting any, and what quality it was or wasn’t? Oh wait...
...based on whether they were male or female. I guess I could get in quite a bit of trouble doing that, since I haven’t voted for many female political candidates. What would that say about me?
I get so confused... especially when it comes to sex. Now when it comes to propositions, I know exactly what to do. My wife has taught me good.
I agree. First and foremost this guy is an idiot. We all know he’s an idiot. Our leaders should know it too. So why would they be willing to negotiate with him? He’s an idiot!
Boehner is lost in space. If his head doesn’t cave in by the end of his two year term, I’ll be surprised.
Yes, negotiate with the Democrats in the House. What a novel idea! I’m not blasting you with that. It’s Boehner. He doesn’t even know that much about the process.
