Anchorage Daily News: Poll shows Alaskans would vote for Obama over Palin
Anchorage Daily News ^ | 06/28/2011 | Sean Cockerham

Posted on 06/28/2011 6:06:19 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

A new Hays Research poll shows Barrack Obama would beat Sarah Palin among Alaskans if the presidential election was today.

The poll found 42 percent of Alaskan voters would pick or are learning toward Obama in a head to head race against Palin for the presidency, while 36 percent of the voters would choose or are leaning toward Palin over him.

Conservative Anchorage radio host Mike Porcaro paid for Hays Research to ask the question.

“Sarah Palin showcases her Alaska roots at every opportunity, but the surprising reality is she has become highly unpopular in her home state,” Porcaro said in an emailed statement.

“Whether it is the fact she left office after serving barely two years or that some Alaskans believe her tax policies have punished our vital oil and gas industry or the ‘rock star’ nature of her media coverage, these results show Sarah Palin would lose to Obama in Alaska, where voters overwhelmingly support conservative candidates,” Porcaro said.

Porcaro hosts an afternoon show on KENI AM and owns an Anchorage advertising agency.

Hays Research of Anchorage polled 500 Alaskans who voted in at least two of the four statewide elections. The poll was on June 21st and June 22nd.

It asked:

“Although it is some time from now, thinking about the election for President of the United States next year, if the election were held today and the candidates were Democrat Barack Obama or Republican Sarah Palin, for whom would you vote or are you undecided?”

Respondents who had “strong” views favored Obama 34 percent to Palin’s 25 percent.

I do not believe this for a minute. This poll was commissioned the same day the follow-on lame-stream media (lsm) articles proclaiming Palin could not beat “the one” even in her own state were written. This is likely more from the lsm attempting to direct the GOP’s future to their own liking and establishing their preferred candidate; a spineless RINO. Bachmann is next along with any other truly conservative candidate.

Regards.

I don’t scream, and I didn’t understand what you were trying to say about polls.

What about the polls?

Yes, she had huge approval ratings at one time during her term, but they had dropped greatly by the time she resigned. That said, any poll by anybody at this point in time is meaningless, but we follow them and comment on them anyway. It’s harmless fun.

Marxist - yes, they are all the same but wear different masks to fool those who aren’t grounded in conservative values.

Polling on Tues/Weds especially in the working hours will always sample more unemployed, cheese loving Dems. Don’t believe this poll for a minute. GO SARAH!

[Unless the Palin troops realize she can’t win and stop backing that dead horse,]

And you would be backing . . . oh but you don’t say. Bachmann is about to go over the coals in a firedance. The only one who won’t be savaged is Huntsman. No, it is time to fight, not cave every time they trash our candidates. Even rats turn and fight when cornered.

Polls for the past two years have had the same 25% negative support for her, that is the number that say they would never vote for her and it is republicans. Been there since mccain and palin lost.

As Governor Palin had a 93% approval rating and an 89% approval rating, and had sustained approval numbers in the 80s, she was the most popular Governor in America, and even described as the most popular official in America.

Was this before, or after, she quit on them?

Exactly... and commies can be corporatists also... because a strong central government with a dictatorial leader is set up just like a corporation... in every detail.

Look at how they set up the poll—totally bogus. 500 who might have voted in one of the last 4 elections?

Generally I find when a clear challenge is made to a PDS’er here they pretty much run away and hide. It’s hard for them because they have no logoc on their side. The best they can do is say “she’s too damaged”. Ok, I say to them, “let the voters decide”. Is that so hard for them, to just let it happen?

Good points. Same goes when you point blank ask why they hate her. Nada. They should be honest and say “ she scares me because I am liberal and she could change things” or “I don’t want to see a woman become president”.

, she had huge approval ratings at one time during her term, but they had dropped greatly by the time she resigned.

LOL, Governor Palin after becoming the face of conservatism and the Republican party, which forced liberal, and Democrat and Democrat leaning Independents to see her as a leader of the opposition rather than just their Governor.

Resigned with the stellar approval rating of 56%, approval that most Governors would kill for.

To put 56% approval in perspective, Governor Romney, Palin's challenger for 2012, and widely seen as the frontrunner, left office with a 34% approval rating.

MSM/Rep establishment is pushing Bachmann

Yes they are! She knows that and it shows her colors, also. Not that her hiring Ed Rollins wasn't a big red alert if anyone was really interested - but the anyone but SARAH crowd needs to remain blind to stay with their RINO agenda.

SARAH - the PROVEN FIGHTER for our Constitution/Country and not owned or controlled by anyone.

next lawsuits were filed by murkowski and a recount ensued and more hanging chad lawsuits took place and she squeaked by on a bogus recount and corrupt vote counting.

Again, Murkowski never conceded defeat in the general election. She won and this was pretty clear from the minute the returns came in. Moocow beat Miller by over 10,000 votes, so no, it wasn't really all that close. Even if every single ballot the Miller campaign challenged was thrown out, he still would have lost.

How does 42% equal a majority for Obama? Palin gets a low numbers because she’s not a declared candidate. What a silly article.

“Polls for the past two years have had the same 25% negative support for her, that is the number that say they would never vote for her and it is republicans. Been there since mccain and palin lost.”

I can easily live with those numbers, don’t you accept that before the nominee is formally chosen that the Romney/Rove type republicans would be absolutely against Palin?

By the way, here is polling from just after the 2008 election.

According to a Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey, 69 percent of Republican voters say the Alaska governor helped McCain’s bid for the presidency. Twenty percent of GOP voters said she hurt the ticket, six percent said she had no effect, and 5 percent were undecided.
Other results of the poll:
91 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of Palin.
65 percent of Republicans have a very favorable view of Palin.
8 percent of Republicans have an unfavorable view of Palin.
3 percent of Republicans have a very unfavorable view of Palin.
64 percent of Republicans say Palin is their top choice for the GOP 2012 presidential nominee.
12 percent of Republicans say Mike Huckabee is their top choice for the GOP 2012 presidential nominee.
11 percent of Republicans say Mitt Romney is their top choice for the GOP 2012 presidential nominee.
