The unemployment rate is officially at 9 percent.
In addition, a broad measure of unemployment – including workers who want a job but have stopped looking and those working part time for economic reasons – rose to 19.3 percent.
This is very grim. Let's put this into its proper perspective because a 9 percent unemployment rate doesn't really sink in.
What if there were a breaking newsflash on TV while you were watching "American Idol," and the headline was "Everyone in Utah is now unemployed!"
You would look at your spouse and say, "Oh wow! This is bad. Those poor people in Utah. I had no idea the unemployment situation was this awful! I thought we were in a recovery!"
Sadly, that would be horrible, but the reality is much more grim than that. The true unemployment picture is absolutely abysmal.

More scare mongering horse manure from a fringe website. Tons of jobs here in Central Ohio. I know people with 3 jobs. I got overtime the last 2 weeks because people keep quitting.

People with three jobs? That’s good? The REAL jobs — the ones where you can live working ONE job are obviously GONE by your own admission. Very sad that people think it’s good to have to work THREE jobs to make ends meet. While you judge the rest of the country by central Ohio, I could judge the rest of the country by Washington DC where many drive luxury cars, eat out at expensive restaurants and are continuing to enjoy their expensive vacations.
The Unemployment Office does not report actual facts either. I know people who went to apply and were told that “they had met their quota for the month and they should come back next month.”

Here in the WDC area people are spending like there is no tomorrow. Restaurants are filled each night and at noon. Housing prices actually went up over the past year. It is hard to get plane tickets at any of the 3 local airports (BWI, National & Dulles). The stores are filled with people buying things. New cars are everywhere...lots of Mercedes, BMWs and so forth. New government buildings (palaces?) are going up.
So, dear Citizens...
Shut up, get to work and pay your taxes. The Beast must be fed.

The official unemployment rate is a lie... You have to look at the “ labor force participation” rate to get the true number... And it’s a lot higher than 20%.
All tribute flows to the new Rome.
BTW, a 1-ton pickup or large 4-door SUV is considered the equivalent of BMW in these parts, and does better in deep snow...
