McDonald's Under Pressure to Fire Ronald By JULIE JARGON

More than 550 health professionals and organizations have signed a letter to McDonald's Corp. asking the maker of Happy Meals to stop marketing junk food to kids and retire Ronald McDonald.

The letter, slated to run in the form of full-page ads in six metropolitan newspapers around the country on Wednesday, acknowledges that "the contributors to today's (health) epidemic are manifold and a broad societal response is required. But marketing can no longer be ignored as a significant part of this massive problem."

"We are committed to responsible advertising and take our communications to children very seriously," McDonald's said in a statement. "We understand the importance of children's health and nutrition, and are committed to being part of the dialogue and solution. We serve high quality food, and our Happy Meals offer choice and variety in portions just for kids. Parents tell us they appreciate our Happy Meal choices."

The campaign is organized by the nonprofit watchdog group Corporate Accountability International, which has also targeted tobacco companies and beverage makers like Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo Inc. for the environmental impact of plastic bottles.

I remember that- here in Toronto, McDs countered that washing dishes used lots of hot water and detergent, making the disposable stuff more eco-friendly.

I think McNasties food is awful anyway. This is another attack by some EV group, and I could care less. After seeing that beating of that crossdresser [no, I don't care] by McNasties employees, I will never buy anything there again.

When you get "professional" morons by the thousands supporting global warming and similar numbers bamboozled by Rachel Carson and her nutty cohorts, this is a very tiny number. They're part of the second group. Screw em.

There are Ronald McDonald camps, also.

This kind of pressure is way out of line.

How come these do-gooders don’t go after all the Rap ‘music’ & the senseless & derogatory hateful lyrics that are out on the airwaves everyday???

More than 550 (dumb as a brick) health professionals and organizations...

Show me one of these nincompoops and I'll show you an idiot with too much time on their hands.

There's nothing wrong with McDonalds. If you eat there once a week, there's no problem. Most people don't eat there every day, three times.

Who knew? Well, these folks certainly didn't.

Liberals are experts at everything, except their own foibles, economics, the military, education, abortion, the U. S. Constitution, the need for a VALID birth certificate...

The federal government is suing Starbucks for firing a dwarf.”

Need more info, please.

Remember some years ago when a guy who was legally blind applied at UPS for a job as a driver?

UPS said no & the guy sued.

The judge was smart enough to throw the nut job out of court.

Too bad that kind of sense doesn’t appear to be in courts today.

Hey! It is McDonnald’s fault in the first place for caving in the last time they tried this. They bent over and apologized, changed their menu to Tofu and Lettuce.

Burger King told them to stick it and even went further with it on a sarcastic add campaign. And the more they were attacked, the bigger Burger King's sales became.

McD’s should tell them how to run their organization, and launch an ad stating such.

More than 550 health professionals and organizations

the number of fat health care workers and professionals I have encountered in my life is no small number. Do they blame McDonalds for their excesses?

In 2009, Dr. Katz was nominated for the position of U.S. Surgeon General.

But every last one of them is an academic elitist. None have practiced real medicine as far as I can tell... Corp. Acct. International is really none other than....StopCorporateAbuse.org.

Because this is not really about health. It's about the terminal hatred that liberal busybodies have toward success. McDonalds is the largest of the fast food chains, and as a result, the #1 target. The goal is to retire an advertising figure that busybodies consider key to that success.

Exactly. McDonalds better not cave in to this demand. If they do, these same 550 "health" whatever people will be back wuth even more demands.

1-800-688-8797
and their email addy is: info@stopcorporateabuse.org

I am sick to death of power-hungry swine abusing their positions in the so-called “professional fields” to bully, harass and badger great American individuals AND great American corporations like McDonald’s.
