LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - U.S. immigration agents descended on Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants on Tuesday, interviewing employees in about two dozen outlets in Los Angeles, Atlanta and other cities.
Roughly 500 undocumented workers have been fired as a result of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) audits of the popular burrito chain's hiring paperwork in Minnesota, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Ay carumba!
When I want Mexican food, I come here to Mexico.
I am in Cancun and it is perfectly safe here in the Hotel Zone.
Duck, meet barrel.
I went there twice. Stopped goin’ cuz I had to point at what I wanted to eat.
Selectively targeting businesses for what everyone knows is an industry practice doesn’t actually help anything. Picking Chipotle because it’s Mexican derived food is patronizing to say the least. They’ve been doing this on a City level for tears, targeting smaller businesses with multiple locations, and it doesn’t do a thing to secure our borders, document workers, or bounce illegals that aren’t willing to comply with the system.
My thoughts exactly.
Bullsqueeze.
You go to where you know the illegals are. Smaller firms more likely than larger ones to violate the law, and certain industries more likely than others.
ANY enforcement puts the “fear of God” into the illegals. Too much fear (and no job) will see them go home.
its all over
Maybe it’s time for assets to be seized.
Good. This needs to continue on a much larger scale. It will put the unemployed Americans back to work.
thats not true..half of Tysons chicken employees are illegals in my area and DeQueen, AR is known as Little Mexico..
Selective enforcement of the law is the tool of tyrants.
“Sorry, but it was just glop.”
Yeah. But here I have a choice of them,,, or Taco Bell.
"Local police parked their paddy wagons outside each restaurant, ready to take the law-breaking illegal aliens to jail."
And this sentence needs a change:
Should the investigations uncover widespread disregard of immigration laws, co-chief executives Steve Ells and Monty Moran could face criticism jail time for allowing the practice to spread through the 1,100-unit U.S. operation.
“ANY enforcement puts the fear of God into the illegals.”
One would think your goal is slightly wiser than just scaring the employees of one chain food business.
...if you shut down Chipotle, and every burrito shop in the US of A, that would do what exactly? You know what’s more important than Chipotle conforming to the law?.....the US Government conforming to the law.
Captain Renault: I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here ...
