403K Initial Claims WorseThan Consensus Again, Down From As Always Upwardly Revised 416K
ZeroHedge ^

Posted on 04/21/2011 6:20:54 AM PDT by quesney

As always happens, the BLS revised last week's non-credible mega miss even worse, from 412K to 416K. As for this week, the number will end up being worse than 403K, which is what was reported for this week, to be revised upward to 406K or so next week. This is (and will be) much higher than the expected 390K.

And so Tim Geithner has to start his latest "Welcome to the Recovery - edition 2011" draft from scratch. Continuing claims also were well above expectations, printing 20K over consensus at 3,695K. Last week's number of 3,680K was revised, gee, higher to 3,702K.

And just as importantly those hitting the 99 week cliff seem to be accelerating: those on EUCs dropped 24K, while people on extended benefits declined by 47K. Total number of persons claiming benefits across all programs dropped by 217K in the week ended April 2.

And so the Yen carry trade unwinds once again: the USDJPY just plunged to 81.72.

The MSM and Obama Admin continue to look for the silver lining, while ignoring the fact that silver is near $46.

$5/gallon gasoline is the silver lining Obama seeks. He's told us so. The gold lining will be $7/gallon gasoline. The crushing of the dollar, and the corresponding inflation is not an accident. This is deliberate. Obama isn't trying to make the USA succeed. Exactly the opposite. Obama wants chaos. He wants the USA weakened. There is no other plausible explanation for what is going on. Nobody who attains this level of power is this stupid.

More bad news? No problem!

Did someone mention "VACATION?"

Can't seem to get my mind off of you
Back here at home with nothing to do
Now that I'm away
I wish I'd stay
Tomorrow's a day of mine that you won't be in

When you looked at me, I should have run
But I thought it was just for fun
I see, I was wrong
And I'm not so strong
I should have known all along that time would tell

A week without you
Thought I'd forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven't gotten over you yet

Vacation, all I ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away
Vacation, meant to be spent alone

Vacation, all I ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away
Vacation, meant to be spent alone

A week without you
Thought I'd forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven't gotten over you yet

Vacation, all I ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away
Vacation, meant to be spent alone

Vacation, all I ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away
Vacation, meant to be spent alone

Vacation, all I ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away
Vacation, meant to be spent alone

I have this sick feeling that the elite GOP are content with a throwaway candidate in 2012, giving Obama another term, because the GOP will probably hold the House and gain the Senate, thus trying to set the agenda.

After all, they both sort of are on the same path. Open Checkbook & Bail-out Bush was going along moderately, but Obama slammed down on the accelerator.

Privately, some senior Democrats and their staffers are telling reporters they want Obama out. They want at least a primary challenge, and possibly want to force him out if he is bloodied enough politically. Dennis Kucinich might challenge him in the primary (really).

A reporter from the Washington Times was on the Steve Malzburg radio program this week, and confessed exactly this sentiment.

Also, Obama might know the jig is up and that if even one state require a Presidential primary ballot candidate to produce a birth certificate, he is toast.

I guess all that is left is for him to crown himself king. In the political sense, he has already done that (refusing to enforce Defense of Marriage law, ignoring Federal judge striking down ObamaCare, ignoring ban on "Czars" in budget deal, etc).

I think that the Donald is evidence of that belief. I believe there is a cabal of New York businessmen likely of both parties, who while discussing the problem over brandy and cigars put Trump up to the task.

Obama is over the top and short of that which can’t be mentioned, he must be destroyed politically. What we may not learn is if the money is not forthcoming. The billion campaign chest might just not happen. If the money dries up, he must resign the race. Powerful businessmen are after his head.

Unexpected Thursday
(Pleasant Valley Sunday - with apologies to Gerry Goffin, Carole King and the Monkees)

The White House Press Corps down the hall
Is trying hard to learn their song…
Serenade the weak kneed Gibbs, who just came out to make them yawn…

Another Unexpected Thursday!
Spilled Oil burning everywhere!
Rows of houses they’re all foreclosed
And no one seems to care…

See Mrs. O, she’s proud today because her roses are in bloom!
Mr. O he’s so serene, He’s on TV in every room!

Another Unexpected Thursday!
Here in Unemployment Land!
The Press complains about how high it is
And the people just don’t understand…

Creature comfort goals
They only numb my soul and make it hard for me to see
My thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away
I need a change of scenery

Ta Ta Ta...

Another Unexpected Thursday
Spilled Oil burning everywhere!
Another Unexpected Thursday
Here in Unemployment land

Another Unexpected Thursday...

I completely agree. His agenda is clear to anyone who’s paid attention since the 2008 campaign.

On a personal note, I’m about to leave for a 2-week trip, and will be driving about 3,000 miles. I’m just hoping gasoline doesn’t go any higher before I get back.

His narcissism won't allow him NOT to run. He thinks he'll be a slam dunk.

“I guess all that is left is for him to crown himself king.”

I’ve said for 2 years he’s going to make some sort of power grab like that. It may not be anything as overt as self coronation, but try this on for size;
Several states pass measures requiring birth certificates be presented to appear on the ballot. Obozo challenges these in court, and with appeals in place “suspends” the election, until the matter is solved because he’s being disenfranchised.
While the elections are delayed, something happens (maybe a predetermined “terrorist” attack, something set up by his buddies in Libya) then he declares Martial Law.
Voila’ we have instant dictator.
Do we really have enough people willing to turn off American Idol, and defend the Constitution? I honestly don’t know anymore, and that is incredibly sad to me.
