NPR has just been slapped down good,

That is true, and a good thing.

It is also possible that NPR may be removed from future CR's and have no previously built in funding, and would have to continue on sponsorships and gifts.

In Obamacare the original bill carried large funding appropriations, likely put in in anticipation of public resistance and the election of a majority of Republicans. These appropriations may have been placed improperly but it is impossible to prove as none of the bills were read or recorded before the votes so the orign of the funding (must be House) can not be proved.

A normal Republican House budget bill now, without appropriations for Obamacare, will not pull the funding and spending authorizations in the original bill, they can still spend till that more than a trillion dollars is gone enforcing Obamacare. That is the problem, and the Rat trick I need to illustrate.

NPR may be off the public dole, but you always have to watch for the built in Rat trick and destroy it.

Voting to defund NPR has the exact same effect as voting to repeal the stain's new healthcare law.

None.

Wrong, simple civics teaches you that the House controls the purse strings.

No money = no money.

And it will be rejected in the Senate. It should have been included in the CR they passed yesterday.

Unfortunately this action like the repeal of 0bamacare won’t actually happen until 0bama is tossed in 2012 and the Republicans take over the Senate as well.

.......what infuriates me is that Boehner has ALL the leverage and, so far, the man simply won’t use it and his resistance to using it, so far, can only be explained in terms of “well, ole John’s a collegial type guy and simply won’t rock the boat too much”!

I say “damn”! ..........to that! Tell the rats that NO MORE raising the debt ceiling period, EVER!

From now on boys it’s gonna be “we spend what we got and all there is to talk about to “this here” house of representatives anymore is “WHO IS GOING TO GET SOME OF THIS $2.1 trillion in bucks we DO HAVE!!!” Don’t even call me about raising the debt ceiling, the phone is off the hook, you can catch me on the 18th green!

I fear that “outside forces” only will ever cause that day to happen! For example, Japan won’t loan to us, China won’t loan to us and everybody else cuts us off! It truly is going to take something like that to FORCE this dysfunctional government we have to act! On their own, they cannot do it!!!

Here's one for us in the Win Column. George Washington lost many a battle, until he won the war.

Stay the course, keep fighting and pray. It's a never ending battle against socialists/communists/marxists/fascists/revolutionaries/muslim sympathizers.

Any reason for not defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as well?

Doesn’t mean jack. Senate will NOT pass it. If they truly had any cojones at all they would have put it in the CR.

They all are such a sack of sheit.

No money = no money.

And when they get around to writing the 2012 budget, then you will have a point. I was wrong on this for a while too. But today's bill was about defunding the 2011 budget. Its already in there. So it has to pass the House, Senate and be signed by Obama to actually be defunded for 2011.

All Liberal Things Considered.

There was (is?) a program on the NPR station in State College, PA, that carried a show, A View from the Left that was so indistinguishable from All Things Considered in political coverage that we called the two of them, "All Views from the Left Considered".

I can't explain it either, except it's standard RINO behavior and we see it consistently since Bush 1 succeeded Reagan.

NPR gets just a small amount of its funding directly from the feds. The bulk of its funding comes indirectly, like member station fees using money from CPB, grants from US govt agencies, and money from companies that do business with the government.

It's CPB that needs to be de-funded.

Exactly.

And that's what the story (okay, brief announcement) states. But it's unclear exactly how this was done. I am sure they have squirrely ways around it so everyone wins: GOP claims victory, Dems claim "evil GOP," and life goes on at a screaming deficit pace while the masses of both sides feast on the red meat tossed to them.
