.............with all due respect sir, I think you and several others above you are wrong on this and that is notwithstanding the fact that I could be wrong.

But, what this vote means to me is that U.S. House of Representatives, from which ALL spending authorization has to pass through, according to the Constitution we use to have and observe, has just voted to not authorize anymore money for you.

So, unless some future negotiation in a CR or elsewhere changes(restores NPR funding) that fact..........”you ain’t gonna get no more money!”

Bottom line is that a favorable House vote to authorize NPR money has to occur for NPR to continue to get money. As of this day and time, they have been told “NO!”......and dat’s good!!

You may be right. Bit the NPR sacred cow has finally been gored. The kill strike, a bulls’ horn right up NPR’s kazoo, will be much easier to do next time around.

Frankly, I’m optimistic that—with the next election cycle closing in—there may be enough self-serving dems in the Senate to help conservatives pass the bill there. Onada will veto it, but the defunding NPR train will be well out of the station.

OK, they should add this defunding to the next CR and see what happens.

I doubt they will.

Sorry, it got through the House in the CR. It will be funded in the next CR too. The House GOP leadership is not going to get serious about defunding anything.

Well, poopie.

Start circulating the third-party petitions, I guess.

Unnecessary. They will be funded by the public that wants to donate and heard by the public who wants to listen to them.

Is there a reason they didn’t include this in the continuing resolution that passed a few days ago? You know, the same one that the Senate passed and the President signed into law? Passing this by itself is meaningless since the Senate will never go along.

This way, they can tell the TEA PARTY ..”We TRIED!” and at the same time appease the GOP’s RINO Base.

PRIMARIES, Anyone??

You have raised some excellent points of discussion on Constitutional issues.

I am not absolutely sure on the intricacies of the procedure to fund or defund a previously funded entity.

I do know that all appropriations and taxes must ORIGINATE in the House.

The legislative process creates entities (agencies or bureaucracies for example) that are expected to operate on a continuing basis. A bill creating or dissolving these entities can originate in either body, and be defeated in either body, but the budget must start in the house, and the Senate can only approve, reject or request that the House change the budget bill.

Therefore, it is critical that the House use budget bills to combat Senate Rat trickery.

For example, Obamacare is NOT repealed it is still the law of the land, and more than a trillion dollars of enforcement will require compliance.

Symbolic vote. The CR funds Nat’l communist radio and TV.

More Kabuki theater from the ‘pubs.

Oh they’ll probably change their name alright.

Then they can start all over and get funding again
altho they say they don’t need it. Let’s keep our eyes on this one.

Yes sir! Thank you for your reply. I “think” here is an analogy of the NPR/pubbie house majority situation.

Let’s say NPR is an 18 wheel trucker and he is rolling down I-10 in San Diego headed for Miami and he is an independent operator paying for his own expenses and MUST get paid at the end of the line in Miami.

So, along about Ft. Stockton, he get’s an email on his I-phone from his wife that says “uh, Harry, the “board of directors” for that company your delivering that load to in Miami has just voted to put that company in Bankruptcy!”

That’s it! That’s where NPR is! They can still roll for a while until their money runs out and in the meantime they can be thinking their NEW situation over, or, like Harry, they can simply go find someone else to sell their/his load of bullshit to, IF THEY CAN. Whatever!..........the chances of them EVER over-coming that “board of directors” vote in todays world are slim to none!

My analogy may be lame or weak, but NPR has just been slapped down good, after decades of trying by many (Gingrich in the nineties comes to mind), and their chances of continuing to be funded by “the board of directors” are slim to none.

It will never happen and they know it.

If they were serious, it would be removed as a line item from the FY’12 budget.
