President Obama Needs Our Prayers (by Michael Reagan)
FoxNews ^ | Feb 27, 2011 | Michael Reagan

Posted on 02/27/2011 7:34:41 PM PST by Innovative

As the apostle Paul wrote, we need to pray "for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives" (1 Timothy 2:2). So I pray for President Obama while I oppose his agenda. In fact, our prayers have never been more urgently needed than right now.

A quick check of the headlines shows that President Obama faces enormous challenges around the globe. The Muslim world is in upheaval, and there's no telling if the result will be the rise of democracy -- or a descent into Iran-style theocracy.

Imagine being the president of the United States, confronting this rising chaos without any firm Reaganesque principles to guide you. That's the situation President Obama finds himself in. This man truly needs our prayers.

I think that Michael Reagan simply missed his mark. What he should have said (and perhaps intended to say) is that we should pray for the nation. I would never pray for anyone or any cause that is not deserving of my prayers and Obama certainly fits that description. My only prayer in that regard is that if (and when) Obama fails that he does minimal damage to the nation.

I agree with that. We are commanded to pray for our leaders. The one thing that gets me past the I can’t do it is, if God asked me to do it, I’ll do it. Doesn’t matter how I feel about it. It might well be because we refuse or drag our feet(raising hand, I’m guilty of that last one) to pray for our leaders, out of that disobedience to His word, we do not receive the blessings God would like to bestow on us. And perhaps a change of heart for our leaders.

I am praying that Barrak Hussein Obama will be made known... in other words he will be revealed for who/what he truly is.

It is very hard to pray otherwise for him because I believe he desires the destruction of the United States of America and is working toward that end. So my main prayer, or supplication, would be for blessings on the United States, not on him! :)

Good point. What did Moses pray about Pharaoh? Surely not that Pharaoh’s days be blessed abundantly with happiness and laughter since Pharaoh was choosing to not obey God and keep His commandments.

I don’t think Michael Reagan is prompting us to pray that Zero’s plans for the destruction of America be successful.

Sorry Michael, we are the ones who need the prayers because of President Obama and the last year of President Bush.

Let us pray:
Let his days be few; Let another take his office.
Psam 109:8
Amen!

Can't imagine what possessed Michael Reagan to write this article.

Perhaps he feels that he should obey God, who instructs us in His word to pray for those in authority and our enemies.

I’d prefer to pray for my country and pray that one way or another this country is soon delivered from the usurper who currently occupies the White House!

Is that what God's word says to do?

I was wondering what was the best way to respond to this thread... then I read your comment. I second it.

Does God's word say we should pray for our rulers or not?

Does it say we should pray for enemies or not?

Since when does praying for an enemy require praying for their schemes to work?

Do you think every ruler in power when Paul wrote his instruction to pray for rulers was a good Christian? When the believers suffering under Diocletian read those verses, do you think they got down on their knees and prayed for the Emperor to kill more Christians?

I pray for Obama and all of our elected officials. I pray for their safety, for wisdom for them, and that they be prevented from destroying our country.

Something happened to Michael Reagan. Someone’s gotten to him. His tone has completely changed from just two years ago. He now sounds more like his brother, and less like his dad, every time I hear him.

Shame. He used to really have the fire. Now, he just seems like so much warmed over toast.

I don't need Michael Reagan suggesting who I should pray for any more than I need Moochelle Obama suggesting what I should eat.

My prayers for others are between me and God. On the other hand, Reagan evidently can't overcome the urge to try for a worthless publicity shot by sharing the identity of his dubious prayer target with the world.

Who really cares who you pray for, Michael?

Not this sinner....that's for sure.

Do you think Jesus and Paul meant pray for people to die?
