Unions, and not just teacher’s unions, are completely out of control in ALL states.

Union members should be made to pay more into their own retirement and benfit accounts (minimum of 50%) and if they do not like that, they can all go to hell.

Chris Christie in NJ has the right idea about dealing with unions - you try to negotiate with them but if they do not bargain in good faith then you act unilaterally. Which is what is happening in Wisconsin. I think this anti union sentiment will spread to many other states especially the ones whose state budgets are way out of whack and who are on the verge of bankruptcy. This is one way to get those state budgets under control.

Teachers, as do our government employees and officials must enter into our world - the real world. Teachers can’t be fired for bad performance because of unions but the public sector can be fired at will. Teachers don’t pay anything toward their pension because of unions and neither does our gov. officials - the public sector pays into SS and their IRAs for their “pension”. Stop your whining at least you have a job! EVERYONE is going to have to give up something to save America. Obama administration does not seem to want to do that in any significant way. We either make the decision now to tighten our belts or we WILL HAVE to do it later (and later won’t be nice). Even if everyone tightens his belt (including our obese (Yes, Michelle,I said the O word), lazy, government, we are still the richest people on earth. DO IT NOW,or DO IT LATER but it has got to happen. Unions have become the enemy of the people of America - face it.

It is not JUST the unions. It is the vicious circle of politicians negotiating lucrative union contracts with our money in return for union support in elections.

The politicians do not care any more for the well being of the people than the union does.

Oh, I totally agree with you. Not all, but most especially the career politicians think the American public are idiots. Well, they are partly right but not totally. There are those who get it. For example, do they think we really believe getting involved in our healthcare and eating habits is because they love and care about our health? It is about government control. And, you are right, lobbyists and union wheeling and dealing is all a part of a politicians day. But, I think the American public’s got game and we're in it to win it! I just think we are over comers. With the grace of God, in 2012 the socialists will be further kicked to the curb and we can finish the job in 2014.
