After wrapping her arms around the retail giant Wal-Mart and trying to cajole food makers into producing nutrition labels that are easier to understand, Michelle Obama, a healthy-eating advocate, has her sights set on a new target: the nations restaurants.
A team of advisers to Mrs. Obama has been holding private talks over the past year with the National Restaurant Association, a trade group, in a bid to get restaurants to adopt her goals of smaller portions and childrens meals that include healthy offerings like carrots, apple slices and milk instead of French fries and soda, according to White House and industry officials.
The discussions are preliminary, and participants say they are nowhere near an agreement like the one Mrs. Obama announced recently with Wal-Mart to lower prices on fruits and vegetables and to reduce the amount of fat, sugar and salt in its foods. But they reveal how assertively she is working to prod the industry to sign on to her agenda.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Obama will begin a three-day publicity blitz to spotlight Lets Move!, her campaign to reduce childhood obesity, which was announced one year ago this week.....

If I recall correctly, some with actual credentials in the nutrition sciences argue that carrots are actually quite high in high-glycemic sugar; and milk (yup moo juice) can be quite harmful to the fairly high proportion of kids (and adults) with allergies to the proteins and/or hypersensitivities to lactose.
One suspects that the (alleged) first lady just might have some amazing ignorance about the entire topic of nutrition.

I love that pic. When Michelle can get her fat ass down to a size the will pit into either the blue or red dress, then i will listen to her, probably not, but until then STFU.
Lead by example you fat ass ugly bitch.
Just one of several reasons I no longer shop at Wally World.
.
First of all, Michelle looks a little on the heavy side to me.
Second, most restaurants are already serving smaller portions and charging the same or more.
She really doesn’t have any business trying to change the way private enterprise sells their products (in this case what meals are served at restaurants). She wants serving sizes to be smaller in restaurants, really? I can see recommending calorie/fat grams on menues, but that is it. And then - it should be optional. These are private companies. This type of stuff gets on my nerves, kind of like the whole salt thing in NYC. This administration has already done enough economical damage, she really needs to back off.
Both of your posts are correctamundo.
I really, really wish she'd take up knitting or something and stop with all the health and nutrition nonsense. It's very obviously a "do as I say not as I do" made-up "cause" and not something she really believes in and has a passion for, as many previous First Lady causes have been. It's intrusive, and I agree with others that her knowledge of nutrition- not to mention her knowledge of how the "common folk" live- is extremely limited.
Quite a few people, myself included, routinely either share meals at restaurants, or take home part of their meal to eat later, for another meal.
Somehow I suspect that neither of those options has ever crossed her mind.
Looking at the width of her backside, I’d say she ought to practice what she preaches.
I wonder what her caloric intake is? Probably over 2,000 calories a day - way over - easy.
“White House announces Super Bowl menu: ‘Bratwurst, Kielbasa, Cheeseburgers, Deep Dish Pizza, Buffalo Wings, German Potato Salad, Twice Baked Potatoes, Potato Chip, Pretzels, Chips and Dips, Salad, Ice Cream’...”
There will be some serious buzzard breath in that group.
The hypocrisy of these usurpers s unparalleled!
“Michelle puts the hip in hypocrisy!”
What does she put into asinine?
Between Ethanol and Chinese corn imports, the price of feed grain has been going up and will go up more. Meat will go up too. Fill your freezer...
“What does she put into asinine?”
110%, just like any overachiever!
Michelle wants to “give parents the confidence to know that they can go into any restaurant and get a healthy meal for their kids.”
1. Just about every restaurant in the country serves salads and has been doing so way before this busy-body came along. If parents want healthy food it’s ALREADY there.
2. I like the way she dictates orders for public school kids when her OWN kids are exempt from all of this nonsense at their pricey exclusive private school.
3. How did parents ever manage to raise their kids in the past without this gawd-awful broad in their faces telling them what to do?
They have pretty good food in Romania and Argentina, actually.
Like C. S. Lewis said, there’s a certain kind of bad man who can’t give something up without trying to make everybody else give it up too.
I think Big Ears laid the law down to Michelle. This is Guy Stuff and you Dast Not Interfere!
