After wrapping her arms around the retail giant Wal-Mart and trying to cajole food makers into producing nutrition labels that are easier to understand, Michelle Obama, a healthy-eating advocate, has her sights set on a new target: the nations restaurants.
A team of advisers to Mrs. Obama has been holding private talks over the past year with the National Restaurant Association, a trade group, in a bid to get restaurants to adopt her goals of smaller portions and childrens meals that include healthy offerings like carrots, apple slices and milk instead of French fries and soda, according to White House and industry officials.
The discussions are preliminary, and participants say they are nowhere near an agreement like the one Mrs. Obama announced recently with Wal-Mart to lower prices on fruits and vegetables and to reduce the amount of fat, sugar and salt in its foods. But they reveal how assertively she is working to prod the industry to sign on to her agenda.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Obama will begin a three-day publicity blitz to spotlight Lets Move!, her campaign to reduce childhood obesity, which was announced one year ago this week.....

Yes! LOL LOL LOL
Yeah, and they smoke like fiends. Don’t know how they do it ...but I believe MODERATION is key.
My kids strongly dislike Michelle. They always say “look at her fat butt” “Why does she get to change our school lunch?”.
I am about 40lbs overweight but that is because I make bad choices all around. My 7 kids are not overweight. I cook good meals and they eat good meals. I don’t need the government to regulate everything I feed my family thank you very much.
IIRC, those were the Bush twins.
You shouldn’t drink milk with meals. Milk crystallizes the hydrochloric acid in the stomach needed for digestion. Your food doesn’t breakdown the right way. It’s a gastric aid and milk basically neutralizes it.
Yeah, these people make me cringe every time they speak.
Our good government nannies required our restaurants to post the nutrition information on every item in their menu. You would not believe the size of these wall sized nutrition guides. It cost millions of dollars for these restaurant chains to post them. And you know what? It did not change customer buying habits one bit.
If you want kids to stop getting fat, make them go outdoors and play. And kick them out of the house and tell them they can’t come inside until dinner; and after dinner, if they get all their homework done, they can play their video games. Don’t fill their heads with fears of boogymen and child molesters. Don’t tell them that the ex-dad is going to kidnap them. Give them a place where they don’t get run over by an idiot going 50 in a 25 mph.
The trouble is we have a society that doesn’t want kids running loose in the neighborhood. They think kids make trouble and, anytime they see one, it’s time to call the cops. Too bad and so sad we have a society with their panties in a knot and cannot let kids be kids.
She can have my high-calorie food from my cold, dead hands.
From Drudge and the AssPress:
“or his Super Bowl party Sunday evening, Obama is offering Yuengling Lager and Light, brewed in Pennsylvania, and Hinterland Pale Ale and Amber Ale, all the way from Wisconsin. Independents can pour down some White House Honey Ale if they like.
The rest of the menu for the 100 or so guests at the White House bash is tailgate-friendly even if served inside the Executive Mansion: bratwurst, kielbasa, cheeseburgers, deep-dish pizza and Buffalo wings with sides of German potato salad, twice-baked potatoes and assorted chips and dips.”
What no apple slices?
You can’t make this stuff up, folks.
Where is his wife? I am sure she would not approve of that menu.
Great . . . she's suggesting we get even less for our money. Wish she'd just go away - far, far away.
With the kids I see today, I’d rather they not be outside because each individual one is a world of problems.
I’ll listen to Michelle’s advice on nutrition when her ass gets smaller.
