I’m just praying that it misses Long Island. I just fell down 1/2 a flight of stairs after taking out my garbage because I had snow/ice left on my boots and I wasn’t holding onto the guardrail!
We have about 6 feet of snow on each corner already, blocking your view. The parking lots are a train wreck.
Thank goodness for all this global warming!!

Thunder snow is essentially lightning and thunder occurring with a snowstorm and is eerie to experience. The snow kind of muffles the thunder sound so it does not as much rumble and roar. Instead, it kind of thumps.
To: Jen
Thundersnow, while rare, is just that—snow so heavy it can actually generate lightning strikes. Usually takes in excess of 3-4 inches per hour snowfall and relatively warmer (near freezing) temperatures.

I’d rather have your snow than the inch of ice we’re supposed to get.The last ice event we had was December 23-24, 2004; no power for 10 days. Christmas was spent with 30 people (10 kids under 12, six dogs and five cats) at my MIL’s house as nobody had power except her.

I work in Seabrook (NH/MA border) and live in Rochester, which is about 40 miles north on the NH/ME border. IOW, right smack dab in the middle of that 18-20 inch snow band.

I thought the term used late last week on a Matt Lauer interview related to global warming was amusing. Climate guy called it “global swings”. Not sure if that will catch on or not.

St Louis metro weather reporters predicting Thunder Snow. What on earth is that??? I've only seen it a couple of times. It's a snow storm with some thunder and lightning. Really strange.
Yesterday the prediction in Dayton, OH was for an inch of ice. Apparently the ice line has moved north and we're supposed to only get about a quarter of an inch.

Thunder and lightening which happens during a snow storm. Really super cool.
