From FOX:
DEVELOPING: Loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Friday, as protesters demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak defied a curfew, Al Jazeera reported. Egyptian television reports the ruling party headquarters in Cairo are on fire.
From TWITTER:
WashingtonPost: Clinton: We urge #Egypt authorities to allow peaceful protest, reverse unprecedented steps it has taken to cut off communications less than 20 seconds ago
Egypt is about to become big Gaza.
“”Lets hope this spreads througout the middle east.””
I did not see a ‘sarc’.
Apparently you are too young to have waited in line to fill your gas tank the last time there was unrest in the ME.
Curious the difference in Barry’s reaction. An uprising against an Islamist government? No support. A (fundamentally) Islamist uprising against a secular government? Support.
“this is hugh and about to become series”
big-time hugh and mega series.
BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
indeed, we have a man in the white house telling the Govt’s to tone it down and yet he said nothing when Iran’s Govt was killing people
EEK silly me, in Iran it was about people wanting to get rid of a mad muslim Govt here we have people wanting a mad muslim Govt.
Obama it is obvious where you stand and it is not for the people who want to escape tyranny and mad muslim Govts.
I am stuck watching Airport TV aka CNN for next hours or so. CNN reporterettes are saying Mubarek was suppose to speak an hour ago. They keep asking why he is late. Um, I think he’s a bit busy right now.
CNN reporting Hilary Clinton has said what happens in Egypt will ultimately be determined by the Egyptians. Reporteretts looking for a clue as to what that means for a US response. FWIW I think it means Barry is voting present.
This is Iran part two. The Muslims will have their popular uprising, and immediately the radicals will take over.
The problem is Islam. It is impossible to have a secular government in the ME that is NOT a harsh dictatorship, because Islam - which is as much a political as a religious system - is always seeking to take it over.
And as for corruption...the Islamic dictatorships are about the most corrupt you can have.
Good LORD...think: Suez Canal?
This isn’t about who we like- it’s about the oil that still drives the economies of the globe.
alJz report
Curfew is completely ineffective. Protester numbers have increased. Police vehicles being set on fire.
PressSec
.Very concerned about violence in Egypt - government must respect the rights of the Egyptian people & turn on social networking and internet

Obama will blow it as he did with the Iranian protestors. Basically, Obama and Biden don’t know what they are doing.
exactly and we have our president saying to the Govt tone it down but nothing when rioters want to escape a islamic tyranny.
Oi see the media yet again is trying to cover for their messiah on this now.
Excluding who is behind these riots and yet knowing full well we might now have another loon islamic Govt which is not good for Israel or us.
Egypt doesn’t have TEA Party, they have Bill, Ayres, Bernadine Dohrn and other Code Pink beauties stirring up trouble. Maybe we can find the remaining missing members of the Weather Underground, there.
OTOH there is this from 2008
“Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt - In a speech at the opening of the World Economic Forum in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, US President George W Bush preached to the Arab world about the benefits of democracy and universality of freedom.
In the speech, which sounded like an ode to freedom, Bush renewed his calls for more democratization and freedom in the Middle East.”
Maybe Obama should phone him for some advice.
Egypt is one of only two muslim countries that actually has a peace agreement with Israel. Mubarak has several times worked as a go between for Israel and the other arab states. The IDF is very, very nervous today.
Good plan, SE Mom. Thanks for the thread.
