Democratic congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio has sued a congressional cafeteria for dental damage he says he suffered after biting into an olive pit in a sandwich wrap he bought there.
...
The suit says the wrap "contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit" that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the product served. The suit says that Kucinich suffered "serious and permanent" dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures.

Three years after the fact for a tort negligence or product liability claim? My first reaction was statute of limitations but it is 3 years after the fact.
The problem with this claim is that I bet it will be settled for a lower amount. Dennis gets his cut, and the liability insurance industry stays in business with their premiums. I'd like to see the $150K injuries from this. Even cores/crowns are under 2K.

Of course then he’ll sue the olive packer, the jar or can manufacturer it came in, then there’s the olive producer producing a dangerous product with no warning label then of course the trucking company; not to mention the person who made the sammich, - need I go on???

It’s one thing to have the costs of the dental work covered, but $150,000. But, I’m sure Kucinich has a golden dental plan to cover the expenses.

I bit into a breakfast sandwich from a local convenience store that had something very hard in it; that something broke one of my molars, and the resulting repair, which operation involved a root-canal and a cap, cost more than $2000. It never occurred to me to sue. What a fool I am. While in Costa Rica last October I broke a molar on a frozen Milky Way bar. I should sue myself for putting the candy in the freezer. Fortunalely a new crown down there was only $500 (porcelain crown, 24-hour turnaround).

The House cafeteria was privatized a few years back. That’s the real reason this tin foil hat wearing commie wants to sue!!
