An Army doctor who disobeyed orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he questioned President Barack Obama's eligibility for office told a jury he was wrong to do so and would now deploy if he could.
Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin of Greeley, Colo., was speaking during a court martial hearing Wednesday.
Earlier, the jury convicted Lakin of missing a flight that would have gotten him to Fort Campbell, Ky., for his eventual deployment, and Lakin has already pleaded guilty to another charge against him. Lakin gave his statement to the jury before the members decide his eventual punishment.

After all he’s been through, do you seriously think he would recant now?
SP free. There’s something total wrong in this case???
Reminding of the same when Reid behind in the polls in Nevada, yet he was elected with same plus margin he was down in the polls, hmmm!!!
Barry’s Pentagon Nazis have thrown a noose around his neck. He’s got to save his own skin now.
I believe that he said he would deploy from the beginning if Obama proved he was eligible, how is this any different
If true, this would indicate total capitulation almost on a nervous breakdown level.
Jet Jaguar to Izzy Dunne; LucyT; Nachum
So, rather than fork over an undisputed Birth Certificate, this President would rather see an Army doctor sent to prison.
Class act, Barry.
Well put.

Colonel Sullivan reports that Lakins attorney, Neal Puckett, asked tough questions: you asked for this court-martial, didnt you? Are you proud of what youve done? LTC Lakin said he was not proud, and that if he had it all to do over again, he would not actually refuse to deploy in fact, he would deploy tomorrow, if he could. He denied having ever said you had your chance that statement, he said, came from his former counsel, Paul Jensen.
The court is in recess until tomorrow..."
To get at the truth, one would need to read the entire transcript of what was asked and said.
Somebody got to him.
A little late for that now.
Might as well have kept his pride and the good will of those that believed in his stand, cause that’s all he will have left when they are done with him.
A tad late for that now.
Facing serious time in Leavenworth might do that to a person.
Although much too late, Lakin finally realizes he jumped on his reproductive appendage with both feet.
It is probably their intention to lock him up for a very very long time. He may think this will keep him from going to prison for life. It’s unfortunate that the birth certificate issue was not embraced by more people on the right.
An argument made at that time: "It is not up to individual soldiers to decide what is Constitutional and what is not. Lawful and unlawful orders are defined for us by the Constitution, the President . . . ."
The presi.. but what if -- oh, never mind.
What got to him was a lawyer who was actually looking out for his client’s best interest and not a lawyer who was encouraging him to throw his life away uselessly.
There was no way this forum (the Military Courts) would allow him to challenge the qualifications of Barack Obama and get to the truth. He was used for publicity, and now he is going to have to pay the price that was inevitable.
I could be wrong but I don’t think he will be serving a long sentence. I hope his new lawyer is able to undo the damage as much as possible that his previous team had let him inflict upon himself.
Could be, maybe, Lt. Col. Lakin was trying to make a point - which was the above - and his point was made - to show what kind of "man" obama is. He doesn't need to go any further.
So, Mr. Lakin contends that his commander, Colonel Gordon Roberts, a Metal of Honor recipient, is a liar?
I'm not convinced that Mr. Lakin has thought his cunning plan all the way through.
